Trump is a low life profane crook. Pence hitched himself to that wagon choosing ambition over principles. This tells you all you need to know about Pence. He sucks up with the best of them. His "values and religiosity" are not real. Just talk. He stayed at Trumps places to keep in favor. I suspect Pence knows that is wrong. But he sold out. That is the requirement for working for Daffy. If Trump threw him in the scrap heap. how would he recover? He sold out and lost.
