or one can truly say that money went to fund Iran's expeditionary forces and proxies -not to the Iranian people

Or, one could say the US attempted a bribe lol.

One thing we can be sure of is anyone who thought the Iranian people were going to see a Red Penny of it were way too naive to be involved in foreign policy.

Actually, that’s how we can be sure it was a bribe.

Semantics. As part of the nuclear deal, we promised to return Iran's own money. It also resulted in the release of five Americans. So, America kept a promise, but you can call it what you will.

Not a trump fan but I do appreciate thus far his bark has been just that & he has been prudent, not using force as the answer to every challenge..

Trump is legitimately anti-stupid war and he gets zero points for it from left.

Kudos to you though for recognizing it. And yes, finally, we’ve gotten away from this idea that every challenge has to be met with force. Or worse, the idea we can take an erasure to Middle East despots and there will be no consequences for it.

The Trump doctrine for Iran is essentially the same as for NK: use sanctions instead of bombs and bullets. Maybe it will work or maybe it won’t. Probably stands a better chance with Iran.

But if there’s a better idea I’m willing to hear it.

I didn't know one could be anti- stupid war while bombing seven countries. I guess Obama was also anti- stupid war.

There were no time limits for the return of the money to Iran.

Obama should have made a deal to continue holding the money until Iran agreed to stop their acts of terrorism and paid reparations for holding Americans hostage. Of course Iran would have never agreed and we would still have the billons that they are using to fund the bombing of Saudi Arabia and other acts of terrorism across the Middle East.

Iran, on the State Dept. list of state sponsors of terrorism is a pariah.

Get back with us when Trump starts a war and/or knocks off a secular despot only to turn a country into an Islamist shit hole.

Continuing wars still makes him pro-war. He doesn't need to start a new war to be a war-crazed asshole like Obama.

So would I, but good ideas are hard to come by..

We missed the boat w/ Iran, maybe a few times, back w/ Reagan & then right after 9/11 when bush snubbed their offers of cooperation..
