    Right.

First you claim they already have a seat.

Then, when shown that no, they do not, you blame them for a decision which is not theirs to make.

    It's OK.

    I understand.

Some people have a hard time admitting it when they are wrong.

Best to check things out before you post.

Better to admit fault when flat wrong.

    Lame to deny and deflect.

    Especially with bogus claims.
I guess its just difficult to believe the UAW would choose to squander their influence.
In that case they got what they deserved.
And doubled now. I see they got their healthcare yanked.

Trump didn't cause the strike. The UAW did. Trump didn't cause the coal strike in Kentucky. The miners did.

Fact is their outlook is shakey.

I thought BO gave the UAW the shares he stole from investors. That would have them striking against themselves.
Excellent memory. That is exactly what the UAW is doing.

    They moved strikers to COBRA.

That is within their prerogative, but it is not going to help them in negotiations. And in the macroscopic sense, if GM no longer provides workers with health coverage then they have nothing to lose in voting for Medicare For All.

Oh they will provide WORKERS with coverage. They have fewer at this point in time.
But if they seek employment again medicare for all is a poir substitute for the Cadillac coverage they were accostomed to (pun intended).

GM argues the plant shutdowns are necessary responses to market shifts, and that UAW wages and benefits are expensive compared with competing non-union auto plants in southern U.S. states. In its statement, the automaker said its offer to the union included solutions for the Michigan and Ohio assembly plants currently lacking products.

A person familiar with GM’s offer said that could include producing a future electric vehicle in Detroit.

It could also include turning a plant in Lordstown, Ohio, into an electric vehicle battery plant or going through with the proposed sale of the plant to a group affiliated with electric vehicle start-up Workhorse Group Inc.

A new battery plant could give some UAW workers at Lordstown the chance to remain with GM.

several Democratic presidential candidates said they backed the UAW, including Senators Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris, former Vice President Joe Biden and Representative Tim Ryan. "

Buy no GM products until this is resolved. To do so would be unpatriotic and unsupportive of American labor.

This is like a child holding their breath, throwing a tantrum......go ahead, you are harming no one but yourself....you will eventually pass out or take a breath. The last time a strike by an auto manufacturer had any effect on the US economy was during the NIXON years and that industry made up almost 20% of the US ECONOMOY....today with all the NON UNION manufacturers.....its nothing but a hiccup. If they want to lose their jobs and go on welfare......allow them, its their right. There are plenty of MEXICANS just waiting for those jobs at a much lower wage rate. The problem is not with the workers....but the greedy union, hell Obama gave them half ownership in the firm...what more do they want? The union thugs miss the days of taking union funds and building cities like Las Vegas.

Actually it is a better deal.

The health care industry took profits of $43 Billion last year.

That money is not coming from the rich.

It is coming out of the pockets of every worker in America.

America spends over double what other countries spend.

When we institute MFA people will be paying less.

That will be a better deal.

Big deductables will be a big step down for UAW.
Actually rich people DO po ay into that pot.
Most employer insurance is subsidized to some extent so those horrible CEOs are paying that.
Medicare for some pays more than commercial. No reason to think medicare for all will be any different. Every estimate is astronomical.

Benefits are part of the compensation package. If you take your wives insurance, you can usually get an addition to your wage.
Universal insurance is much cheaper and more humane.
You would think corporations would fight for universal healthcare. To remove the cost of insurance and taking care of the paperwork would make business so much easier.

Yes, workers should simply and quietly accept whatever a company wants to do.

Nobody stole anything. But yes...Obama was a genius. The union was now a part owner, with future labor negotiations having them bargaining against themselves.

UAW dumped a lot of its shares last year.
