I was buying Ford long before there were bailouts.......most people were......that's WHY they didn't need a bailout.......the last GM in the family was my daughter's Trailblazer.......it was always needing repairs......

Please dont say rich people, that will never happen.
But of course. OK first consider just how rich the rich are now. Well, that is way way richer than most people think. Then consider that after more labor is eliminated, more profits are showered on the already rich, they are going to be FAR richer than they are today. Since they already have way more than they ever need, they won't miss it if more is paid into the system that must include a UBI.

The unions made concessions to help GM avoid bankruptcy. GM is fine now. Time to pay the workers back.

You act like it is just one group at one plant. Not the case. 49,000 workers spread across numerous locations. They all walked out together. The strike could do them a lot of good if it gets GM to the table with some better proposals. People are uncomfortable shopping for a GM car while this is in the news.

The UAW can go on permanent strike and no one will care, especially the big wigs at the big 3. Oh sure, the unions might get the democommies elected, but they won't be able stop AMERICAN companies from doing what they have to do to stay in business, or else they'll take the money and run and laugh their asses off at you commies trying to run the S.P.S.P.P.U.T.P.#17(Socialist People's Solar Powered Pick Up Truck Plant #17)
That was funny. Purely fictional, but funny. I'm sure the workerless factory is in our future, I'm just not sure when. For now, building cars takes a lot of workers. Corporations have to remember they are employing people, not buying machines. Hard working people deserve to have good pay and benefits. If they are going to make a commitment to work, the company needs to return that with a commitment to employ. Right now, GM has a big problem on their hands. They need to do something. The workers are not trying to be unreasonable. They just want what they think is a fair shake.

Union member agree to stand up for one another. when one plant gets closed who knows which plant is next? They are not going to just sit around waiting. Talks of plant closures anywhere rattle workers everywhere. They are all striking at all locations. 49,000 workers not working. That should get GM motivated. If people wise up this doesn't have to last long and everybody can get back to work, the plants can start producing again.

    They didnt avoid bankruptcy.
Concessions were simply to survive. They are NOT ok as they never solved the issues that killed them to begin with.

Please elaborate? I have heard that they came back just fine. Why did Dodge take the truck market away?

The union saved them. It was the banker crash that crushed them. Like so many other companies , the Bush crash crippled them.

Had one or two ok years but have fallen off and future not bright. Why ? Prolly because its GM. Electric pickups aint going to help either.

UAW should take the extension as they did with Ford and Chrysler.

They make $90k+ not including benefits.
That proves government motors goes very cheap on materials.
I wouldn't own a GM if they gave it to me.
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.

Lie. The UAW is what is forcing GM to close those plants.

Right. Force GM out of business so they can't hire the workers to build cars. That'll work!
