So you want to cut out those studies all together? A world without art? A world that doesn't study social trends? I can't imagine that would be a better world.

I think a better approach is to make it clear what the expected life is for people who get specific degrees and let them decide.

We would probably still have art without art history majors.

Educational funding has increased faster than inflation. At many schools the number of teachers and students has remained stable or declined but the number of administrators has increased.

Most major problems of education cannot be helped by spending more money. And nobody wants the additional regulations and paperwork that would accompany more federal funds. Teachers have to waste too much time now doing needs assessment, learning goals, etc. that nobody ever uses.

Too much of public education, especially at the secondary level, involves teachers doing little or nothing in class. My granddaughter is in 10th grade and likes art but complains because all they do is watch movies in class. There is some really good education that occurs, but for those choosing to do nothing they still pass. Many have never read a book.

The argument is put out we can’t move forward yet America continues to grow and get more diverse on a daily/monthly/yearly basis.

I think you just don't like her so that is tainting your opinion..... I checked the things I believe are true....... You can do the same if you like.. I don't agree w/ her a lot, maybe as much as you, but IMHO when she is right, she is right & I am not gonna ignore it.

There are some basic facts that I think many of the people who support these ideas forget:

1. College is voluntary.
2. Taking out a student loan to pay for college is voluntary.
3. Not everybody is meant for college and not everybody benefits by going to college.
4. College is not a necessity for success or a guarantee for success.
5. Nothing is ever really "free".
