Wettest Calendar Year to Date: 2019 Slogs Onward
A slightly wetter-than-average August helped keep the contiguous U.S. on track for its wettest calendar year on record, according to NOAA’s monthly climate statistics released Friday. The nation saw its 45th-wettest August out of 125 years of recordkeeping. March and July are the only two months in 2019 that have been drier than average for the 48 contiguous states.
For the year to date (January-August), the precipitation total of 24.59” handily tops the previous record

Your link says their longitude is about the same and likely a reason for the two experiencing similar weather patterns. You didn't read your link, dummy.
Further, had you read your link, this is not a global issue. This also occurred back in 1994. And nothing in the article remotely suggests man or supposed global warming are responsible.
You are a liar.
We live in interesting times, in the words of the alleged ancient Chinese curse.
I'm sure one of the usual climate-change-denier morons will rebut with "Yeah but in 1915 it was 100F in Alaska so this is all fake news." I'll now read through the rest of the posts to see if I'm right.

The majority of state temperature records were set in the first half of the 20th century, that's an inconvenient truth.

Gods, your stupidity knows no end. Even a non-sci-person like myself knows and has personally observed that interior land mass temps are more volatile (higher in summer/lower in winter) than those affected by being closer to large bodies of water.
Rather than trying to "debate" a brain-dead idiot, I'll only suggest that you research the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of our planet and their climate and weather patterns. You live on an island nation.... so if anyone should understand how maritime climates affect the land masses that they touch one would think it would be you. But.... nope. It's you. H. Moron.

I am perfectly well aware of the difference between maritime and continental climates, thanks all the same. However your point, such that it is, is totally irrelevant to the question as to why that record still stands after more than a century or indeed why the majority of state temp. records were set in the first half of the 20th century. As climate scientist Judith Curry so eloquently puts it, how can you ever expect to understand current warming if you can't even explain the causes of early 20th century warming?
If you are not brain-dead, as you claim I am, then that ought to be pretty easy to answer. I have never denied that there is some warming occurring, indeed I've asked many times which of the 4 RCP scenarios outlined in the IPCC AR5 (2013) report do posters here consider most likely. Never get a response from anybody, yourself included.
You might actually be surprised to know that almost all climate scientists, including so-called sceptics, accept that a doubling of CO2 concentration should result in an increase of around 1.2C. That's from the start of Industrial Revolution level of 280ppm to 560ppm towards the end of the 21st century. The major disagreement is over the positive feedbacks, theoretically posited by some to ramp up fear and trepidation amongst the terminally bewildered.
