    Alaska and Hawaii share the same record high temperature of 100 degrees. Alaska's record was set in Fort Yukon on June 27, 1915, and Hawaii's record occurred on April 27, 1931, near Pahala on the Big Island.

    Although 2800 miles of open ocean separate them, both Anchorage, Alaska and Honolulu, Hawaii experienced their warmest climatological summers (June-August) on record this year. It appears that this was Alaska’s second warmest summer (following that of 2004) but it is likely that it was Hawaii’s warmest.

    The next tropical system is whipping up near the Bahamas and is expected to lash the victims of Dorian with storms before moving into the Gulf and becoming Tropical storm Humberto this weekend.

    "1. Satellite images indicate that the area of disturbed weather over
    the central and southeastern Bahamas is gradually becoming better
    organized while surface pressures are falling in the area.
    Conditions are becoming favorable for a tropical depression or a
    tropical storm to form within the next day or so as the system moves
    toward the northwest through the northwestern Bahamas and toward
    the Florida Peninsula at 5 to 10 mph. If this development trend
    continues Potential Tropical Cyclone advisories will likely be
    initiated later today. This disturbance will bring heavy rainfall
    and gusty winds across portions of the Bahamas through Friday,
    especially in portions of the northwestern Bahamas affected by
    Hurricane Dorian.
    An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is
    scheduled to investigate the system this afternoon, if necessary.
    * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.
    * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent.

    2. A tropical wave located several hundred miles west of the Cabo
    Verde Islands is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
    Conditions appear conducive for development, and a tropical
    depression could form early next week while the system moves
    westward over the tropical Atlantic.
    * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
    * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent."

    I dont suppose all that molton rock and superheated steam from the very active volcanos could have anything LIKE as much impact as a few CO2 molecules....

    Tropical storm Humberto likely to form near Florida, but final destination uncertain

    Source: Washington Post

    The tropics have been relatively quiet for the past week, but they’re not going to stay that way for long. A tropical storm — which would be dubbed Humberto — is likely to form between the Bahamas and Florida’s east coast and could affect parts of the southeastern United States in the coming days. In addition, an area much farther east in the tropical Atlantic also bears watching.

    A disturbance over the central and southeastern Bahamas has become better organized but is a very challenging system to forecast. Its ragged, sloppy structure right now makes it difficult for computer models to project its future path.

    We do know it’s favored to develop. In fact, the National Hurricane Center gives it a 70 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression or storm in the next 48 hours and an 80 percent chance in the next five days. A Hurricane Hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate the system Thursday afternoon, and the Hurricane Center may begin issuing regular advisories later today.

    The most immediate concern is that, according to the Hurricane Center, the disturbance will bring heavy rains (1 to 3 inches or so) and gusty winds in portions of the northwestern Bahamas that were hammered by Hurricane Dorian.

    Neither Alaska nor Hawaii have a single temperature. Whoever wrote this article for Wunderground is full of shit.

    There are not enough thermometers in either State to measure the temperature of that State.

    Yup. Pretty much normal weather for this time of year in the upper midwest.
