Default California Approves Statewide Rent Control to Ease Housing Crisis

This will of course discourage construction and make things worse. The answer is to enforce the law and remove the 10 million illegal alien monsters squatting in the state.

sep 11 2019 California lawmakers approved a statewide rent cap on Wednesday covering millions of tenants, the biggest step yet in a surge of initiatives to address an affordable-housing crunch nationwide.

The bill limits annual rent increases to 5 percent after inflation and offers new barriers to eviction, providing a bit of housing security in a state with the nation’s highest housing prices and a swelling homeless population.

Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat who has made tenant protection a priority in his first year in office, led negotiations to strengthen the legislation. He has said he would sign the bill, approved as part of a flurry of activity in the final week of the legislative session.

wow.CA war on independent contractors..not good at all.
The reason I make $30+/hr at my job taking infomercial calls is I am NOT an employee. I am commissioned sales

They have to pay me more to keep my services - other employers give them health care and share FICA withholdings but pay them like $10-15 hour. Show me the money!

This is democracy in action. The people of California are getting what they want. What I don’t understand is people who support legislation like this then complain about the high cost of housing. People who support restrictions on development and zoning, then complain about the high cost of housing.

Either they don’t understand the correlation between what they support and it’s outcome or have they have a serious case of cognitive dissonance.

This is another problem caused by illegals. Just like highway gridlock in the state and the water shortages. Illegals cause a lot of the forest fires too. Coyotes will start a fire in one area so they can sneak in a bunch of illegals a few miles away.

That is, quite literally, a fascistic economic policy.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

As always, price controls won't work. It always causes shortages (in this case, housing).

Another fascist move by the SOTC. Watch Uber and Lyft relocate back into the United States.
