I even remember once when W. Virginia went to LSU their fans saying it was more fun than going to one of their own home games
I always had a blast going to Baton Rouge for a game. The LSU fans were always friendly. Drunk, but friendly. And if you are there early for the tailgating, the smells are heavenly!!

I was always at a friend's tailgate. I was offered bowl after bowl of the best gumbo I ever tasted. And the beer flowed like water!

Orgeron is a better motivator. When he took over for Lane Kiffin and for Les Miles, he got more out of the same players that he inherited. Not sure he will turn out to be as good of a recruiter as Les Miles, though.

Miles' complete lack of concern for innovative offense was beginning to turn off recruits. Why go to a program where everybody in the stadium knows what the offensive plays will be on every down giving it no chance? You probably don't remember Charlie MacClendon? Probably not if you're younger than about 55. Same thing.
1st down - off tackle run to the right, 2 yds. at most.
2nd down - off tackle run to the left,
    3rd and long, pass incompletion
    4th down punt.
Try to hold opposing team's offense. Works for maybe a half with a score of 7 -7, then the D gets completely winded being on the field the whole game.
As far as recruiting LSU is presently 2nd according to Rivals and they were 3rd for the 2019 class.
And what other coach can go to south Louisiana and speak French with a recruit's family or to give a talk?

Lay Miles (how I pronounce his name) could be an OC for Pete Carroll).

He's getting off to a horrible start at KU, even by their standards.

Something happened to him at the 2012 NCG against 'Bama. He coached a horrible game then and was never the same after. He was pretty darn slick before that.

Yeah, he managed to beat Bama 2 years in a row, then didn't beat us again.

Backups seem to be doing well in second tier programs.
I just saw and realized Fields was a backup also. Does that mean Burrow would be third string at GA?

A lot of backup QBs transfer and do a lot better under a new coaching staff.

    Jalen Hurts was a backup.

Mott is a friend of mine online. But I like giving him a hard time too.

The thing about QBs is that the coaching can make all the difference in the world. Burrows was mediocre at Ohio State. He was mediocre last year. But this year he is a different animal. Not only does he show he has the skills, he is in command of the field.

The game with Alabama on 11/9 is now a showdown.

Way too early to speculate on that game. Bama always gives LSU their best though. I remember Saban saying that was always a spot on their schedule they were wary of (or something to that effect). And Alabama always seems to have more muscle in the trenches.
I will say this - at this point it would be a little disappointing if LSU has a two loss regular season. Outside of Bama there's Florida - there's always bad blood between those two for some reason. Auburn and A&M are pretty good too.
Of course Bama has to get by Ole Miss, lol.

Ole Miss is pretty pitiful this year. They lost to Memphis. lol

If we were playing in Baton Rouge, I would feel better. Up until the last few years, LSU had won more games in Tuscaloosa than in Baton Rouge.

I think LSU's offense is clicking, but Bama's defense is much better than LSU's. But the game isn't until November.

I no longer get disappointed when LSU loses to Bama. I fully expect it - they just get too revved up with emotion for that game every yr. rather than methodically prepare. Maybe Coach O will calm them down. Of course Les Miles' preparation was probably "rah rah sis boom bah" without even looking at film the week before the game.
Texas A&M and Auburn have a better chance IMO. Even Ole Miss, lol.
