'Universal Time'. Exact same 'clock' used for Planet.

I think the pitch is that with a 'One Time Zone Planet', there is no 'calculations' about 'time' being based on where you are at on the Planet. In other words, there will just be one 'clock'.
Say the clock hits 1400 Hours. It's 1400 everywhere on the Planet. It could be morning, noon, or night where YOU live, but it is still 1400 hours.

I like to watch Fareed Zakaria in the morning and drink my coffee (Sorry Howard, Dunkin' Donut Brand). These two guys came on and started talking about 'Universal Time'. Which isn't the usual 24 time zones, but a single 'Time Zone' for the Planet. I had the same reaction that many Posters had here "That sounds nuts". Then, as I listened, it was more for global business. Like, say I'm in Seattle and I want to teleconference with my Managers in Singapore, Frankfurt, and Sao Paulo. We agree to talk at 2100 Hours. There's no confusion about what time the call will take place because no matter where you are on the Planet, 2100 hours is exactly the same world wide. Probably convenient for Trade and Shipping. Say you're buying Tea in China, you can track it using a 'single clock' as it passes through China, sails across the Pacific, lands in Long Beach, crosses the land by train, and finally trucked to the McCormick Factory in Baltimore. You don't have to convert anything to 'Local Time' or worry about 'Daylight Savings Time'.
Anyway, I thought I'd post it here and see if anyone was familiar with the concept of a 'Global Clock'.

Well, you're familiar with the 24 hour clock, 0000 to 2400, do you think that is a better system than the 'am/pm clock'?

There's almost never, if ever, a time a local joe gives a shit about the precise time someplace else. But, on the rare occasion someone wants know, the time with the time zone does the job.
