Which isn't the usual 24 time zones, but a single 'Time Zone' for the Planet. I had the same reaction that many Posters had here "That sounds nuts". Then, as I listened, it was more for global business. Like, say I'm in Seattle and I want to teleconference with my Managers in Singapore, Frankfurt, and Sao Paulo. We agree to talk at 2100 Hours. There's no confusion about what time the call will take place because no matter where you are on the Planet, 2100 hours is exactly the same world wide. Probably convenient for Trade and Shipping. Say you're buying Tea in China, you can track it using a 'single clock' as it passes through China, sails across the Pacific, lands in Long Beach, crosses the land by train, and finally trucked to the McCormick Factory in Baltimore. You don't have to convert anything to 'Local Time' or worry about 'Daylight Savings Time'.
Anyway, I thought I'd post it here and see if anyone was familiar with the concept of a 'Global Clock'.

Well, you're familiar with the 24 hour clock, 0000 to 2400, do you think that is a better system than the 'am/pm clock'?

So? Everybody working off GMT is a good idea? Everybody accepts a '24 hour clock' is a good idea?
So the whole world would celebrate New Year's Eve at exactly the same time?

    It's a terrible idea.

Jack: Exactly. THEIR idea is a totally DIFFERENT concept. Has NOTHING to do with the Sun. Has EVERYTHING to do with Business Efficiency on a Global scale. According to the Article that I have linked to, China had 5 Time Zones, but has now eliminated them. I would be curious as to how that is working out.

Hey fcktard, do you work for a trade or shipping company that is screaming for a world government to impose a single time zone on all the people of the world? "Gosh darn, if it's good enough for Red China, it's good enough for the whole world." Are you at least aware of shipping companies have troubles for lack of a universal time zone? No? You're a fcking moron!

It seemed like an interesting concept so decided to bring it to the JPP Scholars and Intellectuals for further review, you know, before I single-handedly implemented the Policy.

I've played Chess and Go. And I always thought GO would be easier for a computer to master.

I think it just took longer for a computer to conquer GO because there was less focus on the task than on chess.

With UTC, some people will be celebrating NYE at 3pm and others at 3am.

Probably so. Apparently the Game of 'Go' is highly revered in China (and Asia). We here in the West don't appreciate what AlphaGo did to the Chinese psyche.

Well, their socialist gov't has kept Alphago's wins a secret from the Chinese populace. So, no worries there.

It is an awesome fun strategic game, but it is difficult to find American opponents. The American attempt to create a shorter less complex version is Othello.

This sounds like an idea that will never happen, regardless of its merits... if there are any really.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
    - -- Aristotle

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions, even though they have been held in honor for many generations and in diverse places. Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it. Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past. Do not believe what you yourself have imagined, persuading yourself that a God inspires you. Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.
