As always happens, the great deal maker FAILS to con/manipulate & persuade so he moves to FORCE HIMSELF ON AMERICAN CAPITALISM

BIARRITZ, France -- President Trump asserted on Saturday that he has the authority to make good on his threat to force all American businesses to leave China, citing a national security law that has been used mainly to target terrorists, drug traffickers and pariah states like Iran, Syria and North Korea.

As he arrived in France for the annual meeting of the Group of 7 powers, Mr. Trump posted a message on Twitter citing the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977, a law originally meant to enable a president to isolate criminal regimes not sever economic ties with a major trading partner over a tariff dispute.

"For all of the Fake News Reporters that don't have a clue as to what the law is relative to Presidential powers, China, etc., try looking at the Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977," Mr. Trump wrote. "Case closed!"

The president's threat to all but cut off one of America's most important trading relationships could disrupt a global economy already on the edge of recession amid his trade war while further unsettling giant companies in the United States that rely on China in their production and sale of everything from clothing to smart telephones.
Rut Roh. Ivanka is going to shit. Who will make her cheap crap?

I think the law can be applied. Unless it gets implemented, which I doubt, we may never find out.
If the corps. are leaving, but not coming here, then trump doesn't understand how tariffs work

IMHO we most certainly can compete, we need to make the changes necessary here to unleash the creativity & entrepreneurship here, like China did there..

I think trump is understandably frustrated/pissed after trying to entice companies back home, tax breaks etc & they take whatever they offer & don't budge..
Because the tax breaks had absolutely nothing to do with bringing jobs home.

Otherwise the breaks would be commensurate with job creation here.

That is a tough nut IMHO....
good example. theoretically we protest to the WTO and the WTO enforces under threat of sanctions.. the problem is the WTO is a toothless tiger -and China knows it gets away with it.

so this whole thing about IPR is it will be covered under a new bi-lateral agreement
    with BUILD IN ENFORCEMENT.
Just exactly what the mechanisms are I don't know - but i do know that was the reason
Xi walked back on the first negotiations

China wants to talk the talk without walking the walk..
They are spoiled cheaters, and it's upto the US to nail their hides to the wall when they do

His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone," McConnell wrote. "His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended."

Whether they come to the U.S. or go to another Asian country, it still weakens China's economic power.

    You're a close minded moron.

Weakening China's economic power is not the reason for tariffs. Idiot.

    Althea is a Dunce.
Tariffs are the way we cause them to lose manufacturing base
( because to avoid them they move to other Asian countries.) foreign investment,
and disrupt their supply chains to the world. NAFTA 2 does as well

It MOST DEFINATE is about WEAKENING CHINA to force them to negotiate

Trump makes his overpriced trinkets in China and 3rd world nations. He would be exempt.
Long ago corporations saw that China is the marketplace of the future. There have 1.5 billion people to sell crap to. Americans already own too much junk. China has a bunch of blank slates to fill in.
What exactly are we selling to Chinese consumers? What kind of buying power do they have? Do libs EVER think anything through?

No. It is an unintended consequence of the tariffs. You should really educate yourself about tariffs and their intended result. Destroying the global economy is not what tariffs are supposed to do. Leveling the playing field between two economies is. China can wait a lot longer than the U.S.

Incompetence does seem to be what rears its ugly head every time trump comes up with a business decision.
