August 26th is also Women's Equality Day!

Coincidentally, National Dog Day was founded by a woman (Colleen Paige) in 2004. The date is very special, as August 26th is when her father adopted their first family dog. Interestingly enough, there was nothing about Women's Equality Day found on the internet in 2004, which makes these two special initiatives, come together years later to create one of the greatest in days in history. Both are relevant, necessary, vital and have both reached a robust level of popularity, trending side by side, worldwide on Twitter and Google. This is just one of many examples of how women can succeed at anything they choose. Women and dogs clearly make the world a better place! "
I think it's impolite to equate men or women with dogs.

She's just part of the "people problem" when it comes to pit types...the ones who make broad and often inaccurate generalizations and love to rant about the tragedies to try to make some kind of point........there are too many of them, unfortunately....

    Salisbury Police News Release
On March 5, 2019 at 2:29 pm, Salisbury Police were notified of a child that was being airlifted to NC Baptist Hospital for treatment of a dog bite. Upon investigation, officers determined that the incident happened at the home of the child’s baby sitter at 716 Wilson Road in Salisbury.

The baby sitter had sat the child down in the living room of her residence and walked outside to clean the backseat of her car so that she and the child could leave. The babysitter heard her mother scream and ran back inside of the residence. There she found the child being attacked by her boxer/pit bull mix dog. The child was taken to Novant Rowan and then Airlifted to NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Due to the extent of the dog bite, 6 month old Jacari Long of Lexington NC passed away from his injuries. Rowan County Animal Control responded to the residence and took custody of the dog. Salisbury Police are still investigating and no further information will be released at this time. - Salisbury Police, March 5, 2019

2019 Dog Bite Fatality: Elderly Amarillo Man Dies Two Weeks After Vicious Dog Mauling

Amarillo Man Dies after dog attack
An 85-year old man died two weeks after a vicious dog mauling in Amarillo, Texas.

    Man Dies After Mauling

Amarillo, TX - An elderly man died last week after being attacked by two vicious dogs earlier this month. Ed Stanley, 85-years old, died January 21, two weeks after the dogs mauled him on his own driveway. Stanley suffered injuries to his legs, face and arms, according to officials. Richard Havens, Director of Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare, said it wasn't just any attack, "it was definitely headed towards a fatality" if a brave citizen had not intervened to help him.

On January 7, Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare responded to a 911 call about an elderly man being attacked by two dogs in the 4400 block of Evelyn Street in Amarillo. "911 was notified that a citizen was being attacked. Police, fire, and EMS, as well as us responded," Havens told KFDA. "We we’re able to get out there, secure the dogs, and then start our investigation," Havens said. The victim was treated at the scene then transported to a local hospital for surgery.

A next-door neighbor heard Stanley's cries and rushed to help him. He used a rubber stick to ward off the attacking dogs, reports KFDA.

"His legs were attacked, his face was attacked, his arms were attacked," Havens said. "Not only did he have defensive wounds on him, but with the dogs going for the face, it was definitely headed towards a fatality had it not been for the tremendous nature of this citizen willing to put their life and limb at risk to save another." The two dogs, a pit bull-mix and a shepherd-mix, were taken into custody. Shelter officials are reviewing the case for a dangerous dog declaration.

Statistics prove that Pits are the most dangerous dogs. This is not imaginary. Any Pit owner will claim theirs are not like that. They are safe. '''until they aren't.

Why would Top choose to "ignore" the dangers of this dog breed?I'm always leary of pits, much more then the coyotes which wander thru our yard at times.

Every dog is an individual...much is taken into consideration when rescuing, fostering, adopting, rehoming, etc.

One would think someone who might or might not have been a teacher. But claims to have been a teacher.Would put childrens welfare, before an obvious dangerous dog breed!I guess the word, bitch would apply!
