Fires in Brazil's Amazon rainforest are proliferating at an alarming rate.
That's the gist of an announcement this week by the country's National Institute for Space Research, or INPE. According to the agency, there have been 74,155 fires in Brazil so far this year — most of which erupted in the Amazon. That represents an astonishing leap of more than 80% over last year and by far the most that the agency has recorded since it began compiling this data in 2013.
Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

NO ONE GIVES A SHIT! Rake, don't rake. Trees who needs trees? Amazon forest? Where is that again? It's 'down there' somewhere, right? What possible impact would a fire in the Amazon forest have to do with us in AMERICUH?
-Think all that carbon won't 'drift' to NORTH AMERICA? Think the EARTH'S carbon emissions won't soar depending on how long it burns?
-So what if roughly half the animal species and plant species in the world are contained there? Let' em die!
-So what if roughly 1/4 of all NEW MEDICINES are derived from those plant species mentioned above? And so what if 50% OF ALL CANCER MEDICINES come from the --AMAZON?
-So what if roughly 20% of ALL OXYGEN on the planet is produced in the Amazon rainforest?
-What happens if the S. AMERICAN poor can't find potable water and food to eat? I think caravans up through Central America will make current AMERICAN border INTRUSIONS look like entry into a Disney Park in peak season.
And oh the WATER, the WATER, the WATER!

A trillion dollars wasted on CO2 for nothing! ... while the Amazon and Congo are being raped.
Thanks for nothing Al Gore

I have seen that 20% figure quoted many times, however it's not true. The Russian Taiga boreal forests produce more but rarely get a mention. That's not to say South American rainforests are not important, there are extremely important, not least for the wealth of flora and fauna.
