your "record" number of Iowa bankruptcies was 18 last year......is there any particular reason you decided to waste our time over this?.......

Chuck Grassley's not happy with his president.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, Iowa's Republican senior senator, blasted the Trump administration Friday for EPA biofuel rules that have hurt Iowa farmers. "They screwed us ... when they issued 31 waivers,” Grassley told Iowa Public Television Friday. The waivers he's talking about are waivers to 31 small petroleum refineries who have been exempted from a rule requiring them to use corn-based ethanol in their products. Grassley pointed out that fewer than 10 waivers were granted during "all the Obama years—and we thought that was bad." Grassley continued, "What's really bad isn't a waiver, it's that it's being granted to people that really aren't [in financial] hardship," while farmers are really hurting, facing a record number of bankruptcies. The "buck stops at the Oval Office," he said, putting this one on Trump rather than EPA bureaucrats.

It doesn't matter, it's grown on the same land as food crops, and jacks up the cost of food. Not only that but, it's not good for engines, especially small engines. I do not support government subsidies for any industry. Not farming, not "green" energy.

For the first quarter of 2019, 2.5% of commercial real estate loans in agriculture were more than 30 days past due, up from 2.1% in the prior quarter and above the historical average of 2.1%.
doesn't that mean of our poor suffering farmers 97.5% of them aren't even a month behind in the payments?...........not bad considering that Trump is fucking them over with tariffs... and floods have left 10% of the fields unplanted this season......

don't get me wrong......I love farmers.......especially the ones who rent my land in Iowa.......I wish things were even better for them........there are fewer farm bankruptcies now than there were during the Obama years, but if prices were higher I could charge more rent......

This is a conundrum. Our ethanol program doesn't achieve the intended purpose with respect to cutting down on fossil fuel use. It was always a political ploy to get the Big Ag lobbying money.

The majority of corn grown in the nation goes into our fuel tanks. It bolsters Monsanto/Bayer position within the halls of Congress.

The beauty is that once again, those who voted for trump are getting screwed...even though they'll vote for him again.

    Fuck Grassley. He's an enabler.

Ethanol isn't green energy, and every form of energy has been heavily subsidized forever.

I don't support subsidies for the corn industry for the reasons stated above
