Default Whiskey Makers Don't Believe 'China Is Paying The Tariffs'

    WHISKEY BOOM ENDING
The tariff war is capping a boom for U.S whiskey despite a surge in global demand for traditionally made spirits and cocktails. The Kentucky Distillers Association said that the production of Kentucky bourbon, a popular variety of U.S. whiskey, in 2018 reached its highest level - 1.7 million barrels - since 1972.
At the Aug. 6 hearing, Swonger testified that many of the Distilled Spirits Council's members, including exporting businesses from 45 U.S. states, have halted hiring and expansion plans and seen margins take a hit because of the tariffs.

Maybe those good American folks in Moscows state should ask him for handouts & welfare like the farmers??

Pretty soon we'll have half the industries in the country asking for relief as trump fights to the last industry to stop china........

While we suffer, & mostly alone, so his ego does not look badly beaten they spend 50 billion a wack building friendships & deals w/ over 60 countries along the silk road to our friends in Europe......

The importers pay the tariffs. If they feel it is needed they jack up prices to recoup. They almost always jack them up. So the American consumer pays for the tariffs. China does not pay at all. The only damage to them is if we buy less of whatever Trump is in the mood to tax. Then they have to cut production or sell to Canada.

China bought 9 million dollars of imported U.S. whiskey last year. 9 million dollars. For comparison the EU alone bought 789 million dollars. This whole thread is meaningless.

They are working on opening new markets by the hour........ We are even in trade wars w/ allies.

We don't have plans for anything........

Our politicians celebrate if they are lucky enough to get a budget in for a few months & pay some bills...........

I dunno if that is true, it would make it harder, not impossible, & really the question is for how long..???

& would that end their plans or merely delay them some amount??

Can we keep ours w/out them??

Both are going to get hurt.....

TO bad we don't have allies to help put pressure on CHina........
