Perfect example of the fundamental problem with government. You can't get away with that behavior in the private sector and you shouldn't be able to get away with it in government. And before some one breaks out the straw man, it's not about firing willy nilly any government employee you don't like. But workers should be held accountable and it shouldn't be an employment center for incompetent people. If someone isn't good at their job it shouldn't take three years to fire them.

That's one way we can change government for the better.

may this be a lesson to all parents of black hoodlums ,

teach your children that when a uniformed police officer tells you to do something, do it and live to talk about it.

Interesting science fact kids!: If you can't breathe, you can't talk!

A good cop would be the pursuer in the name of the law, struggle with somebody until that person's life was in danger, and then turn into the person who would save that person's life in order to bring them to justice. It was obvious there was no concern for Garner's life. That's the problem. It is sad that there is such disregard for life that the nation needs to be reminded that black lives do indeed matter just as much as white lives.
This is a bunch of BS. Both of my rotator cuffs are shot. For a cop to wrestle me to the ground and put cuffs on me would cause me pain that I still say rivals childbirth(any women out there who have suffered the pain of BOTH childbirth and bad rotator cuffs and think I'm wrong, I'm willing to debate, but even if I concede, make no mistake, bad rotator cuffs hurt, a lot)suffice to say, I'm gonna be on the ground assuming the position before that blue knight has to tell me to do it

Did anybody even BOTHER to learn more about him? Did they even TRY to learn that he had health conditions? If they thought his life mattered they would have sought to learn and become as familiar as possible with who they were dealing with. That would be good police work.
You said he had been arrested 30 times. Did he resist any of those times? Did he suffer any medical problems during the course of those arrests? You know how many people were approached for "Stop Question and Frisk
Activity" in 2014?(NYPD categorizes everthing, this is as close as I can get to what I think occurred)46277! Should the cops know the medical records of everyone they approach? Garner played a stupid game, and he won a stupid prize. I hope The cop gets his job back, or some other department picks him up

That is the moment the focus needed to go from making an arrest to saving a life.

A good cop knows the difference.

A good cop would be the pursuer in the name of the law, struggle with somebody until that person's life was in danger, and then turn into the person who would save that person's life in order to bring them to justice. We are familiar with a term: "Excessive force."

There is a reason the choke-hold Garner used is prohibited.

The reason is because of what happened.

Garner had been arrested more than 30 times.

    He was well known.

Did anybody even BOTHER to learn more about him? Did they even TRY to learn that he had health conditions? If they thought his life mattered they would have sought to learn and become as familiar as possible with who they were dealing with. That would be good police work.
So, you’re claiming this is the once instance where Democrats aren’t actually lying about a person being murdered by cops lol?

I don't know what it is like to have asthma, but if I understand correctly the airway closes up, which allows the patient to be able to inhale only a very small amount of needed air, but not enough to sustain life. Apparently only enough to say three syllables to alert others around that there is a serious problem. People die from this very serious condition.

"On July 17, 2014, Eric Garner died in the New York City borough of Staten Island after Daniel Pantaleo, a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer, put him in a chokehold while arresting him.[2] Video footage of the incident generated widespread national attention and raised questions about the appropriate use of force by law enforcement.[3]

NYPD officers approached Garner on July 17 on suspicion of selling single cigarettes from packs without tax stamps. After Garner told the police that he was tired of being harassed and that he was not selling cigarettes, the officers attempted to arrest Garner. When Officer Pantaleo placed his hands on Garner, Garner pulled his arms away. Pantaleo then placed his arm around Garner's neck and wrestled him to the ground. With multiple officers restraining him, Garner repeated the words "I can't breathe" 11 times while lying face down on the sidewalk. After Garner lost consciousness, officers turned him onto his side to ease his breathing. Garner remained lying on the sidewalk for seven minutes while the officers waited for an ambulance to arrive. Garner was pronounced dead at an area hospital approximately one hour later. " (wiki)

No, but a good cop would have learned what he could about the people he is dealing with on a regular basis.

Panteleo is likely never doing police work again. He messed up and killed a guy by disregarding policy in a very public case. No good police force would want him. And even questionable forces would be foolish to take the liability of having that guy on the team with them.

Sounds like you are the one making that claim, and I do not agree that this is the only time an innocent person was killed by police.

Unarmed and black Walter Scott was running away when he was shot in the back and killed by a white police officer.

we try to gather a lesson from tragedy,

parents always teach your children that if a cop tells you to do something, you do it.

Live to come home and tell me and I will decide if you were wrong or the cop was wrong and we move ahead accordingly

Neggers are an interesting animal. They continually defy the law and resist arrest. Bet, their parents and Negger leaders keep telling us that they tell their broodlings that because they're black, they have a target on them so they have to be careful. So, why don't neggers stop being criminals, stop resisting arrest, and stop trying to look like gang bangers??

Negger Garner had been arrested over 30 times previously. He already knew that resisting arrest is fruitless. And, society should already have learned that the only thing to be done to career criminals is to have a judge sentence them to hang on a rope until dead. We need to bring back hangings and use that punishment liberally. But, no, NY rewarded the negger's family with millions of dollars.

And, an innocent white man just trying to do his job has been fired, after years of harassment, all because he was the straw the broke the monstrously-obese, diseased crack-heads negger's back, so to speak.

Dylan Roof was years ago. Why do you dwell in the ancient past? Besides, Roof killed innocent Christians in a church. I'm calling for public executions of hardened criminals. Don't you feel like a horrible hateful bigot equating innocent Christians with hardened criminals? For what it's worth, I forgive you.

Your post is incredibly nonsensical on so many levels. I detect the Dunning Kruger effect operating here.

Unbelievable! No wonder the POS squatting in The White House was able to find supporters under rocks that were willing to crawl out.

    [QUOTE=PoliTalker;3215097]Hello Callinectes Ocasio-Cortez,

Apparently only enough to say three syllables to alert others around that there is a serious problem. People die from this very serious condition.
Garner died of a heart attack, not asthma. And since he bought the farm, seems like 4 or more of his family members have died of heart attacks(none of them were choked out by a cop, yeah, weird right?)

    This is not about you.
I know, it's about an idiot who resisted arrest

    IDK.
    There ya go! good answer!

    IDK.
Another good answer! But more questions. This clown had been arrested 12 times, sounds like a lot but...when was the most recent arrest? Was it by the same officers? If so(VERY unlikely)should they still know the medical history of everyone they come into contact with? And the big one: If they knew his medical history, and he still decided to cha-cha with the cops, are they obligated to just let him go?

"On July 17, 2014, Eric Garner died in the New York City borough of Staten Island after Daniel Pantaleo, a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer, put him in a chokehold while arresting him.[2] Video footage of the incident generated widespread national attention and raised questions about the appropriate use of force by law enforcement.[3]
Ah yes, back to the choke hold which was obviously applied incorrectly, because he still had enough air to say "I can't breathe" 11 times while lying face down on the sidewalk! I think it more likely he was put in a sleeper hold(there is a difference, and I don't know if the sleeper has been outlawed or not)

Panteleo is likely never doing police work again. He messed up and killed a guy by disregarding policy in a very public case. No good police force would want him. And even questionable forces would be foolish to take the liability of having that guy on the team with them.
Wow, you really don't know much about police work, do you? There are a LOT of cops right there in NYC who are pissed off that he got fired, and a lot of departments would want him because he has already demonstrated the ability to watch out for his brother and sister officers

Are you REALLY that concerned about this? Write a letter to big bird and tell him to repeal the law that Eric Garner broke. That's all that has to be done. Eliminate the tax on cigarettes in NYC(kinda opens up the market to gang bangers and other mobster wannabes, though. Where do you think the Garner got the untaxed packs of smokes he was selling the loosies from?)

Lots of cops have serious mental problems. Some are working out the PTSD in public employ. Many are angry and aggressive. They have high suicide rates and drinking problems. They should be closely watched. They should not police themselves.
