There are factors involved as well such as a weakened Xi,and a ginning up of nationalism by calling this the new Opium War

Why do you think it is American tax payers that are obligated to stop the spread of Red China into SouthEastAsia?? What is Britain doing to keep them in their place??

Not just SE Asia but Africa as well. Ok, don't do anything let everything carry on as before and then wake up in five to ten years and realise that the Chinese have taken over the world. We did our bit in 1997 in Hong Kong with the One Country Two Systems agreement, which the Chinese are doing their damndest to undermine.

    Yup, a very odd thing.

damage to the US economy ( with the exception of agri) is largely contained -so far.
If it gets to 25% tariffs then all bets are off.

Besides most Americans are woefully ignorant of Chinese economics, WTO systemic violations as well as the list of malign behaviors such as IPR theft.
You can get reportage on US tariff toll most anywhere -not so much on how it effect China

a perfect exampe of why China is not to be taken at their word.

One of the big sticking points of trade talks is an enforcement mechanism -clearly China doesn't care about
renege on it's words. So they want to make promises and then not keep them.

We want automatic mechanisms to kick in when they do so.. China "stick" diplomacy if you will..

You've never been able to see further than the end of your nose. China is an existential threat to the world.

Rune is an idiot -but most Americans are coming around to see exactly the existential threat.

Are you under the illusion trump is going to be able to stop them from stealing???

American/western countries have forced transfers-sounds stupid for them to play along BUT FOR SOME REASON THEY ARE DOING SO........

They are not willing to give up stealing... Even they agree, nothing will stop them.........

Sad, but western/US & others @ some point are just going to have to admit they can't work w/ them- for this reason.

Any tech etc deemed vital etc can not be shared-via US law..

CEO violators should be held accountable & dealt w/ accordingly..

Exactly. Why else would he back down from his latest threat of tariffs?
