Shame we don't have any allies in the world anymore.

Yep..... Even if they don't force the trans, they will just steal it (internally) a lot easier...

I don't see how we can do joint ventures w/ anything they deem worth stealing-that is prob the major reason that want in w/ the company..
"There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility. His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone," McConnell wrote. "His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended."

For all the complaining about China, nobody does anything to move manufacturing back here.

You can't tell me that it costs $900 to build a phone in China.

So in our globalized economy where supply chains run around the world what legislation is going to bring manufacturing back to the U.S.? More trade deals? Less trade deals? Higher taxes? Lower taxes? More tariffs? Less tariffs? What else?

I have no idea how much it costs... Certainly not that-as anyone can see apple is sitting on billions & billions, more than know what to do w/ & fools still buy them....

My cheap phone has a better camera than all of them, except the latest. My phone is almost a year old..........

Apple can afford to make them here, they might make a lil less, but as I pointed out, they are already making more than they know what to do w/...........

Most of these scumball companies are not even paying taxes in the USA..

If they can't pay taxes here maybe they shouldn't be selling their phones here either.....

I don't blame them I blame politicians in their pockets.......

Mitt Romney said he knew how to bring the jobs back.
I imagine he was referring to all the factories that he bought in the US, closed and moved to China.

Of course the orange gibbon could do the same thing, if nothing else to lead by power of example but instead the selfish piece of shit just opens 38 more ventures...in China.

I know you are not a Trump supporter so don't think this is aimed at you, I am replying to the query you posed.

That doesn’t address my question. I’m not asking about republicans or democrats. I’m asking about policy ideas. People like to say we need to bring back manufacturing jobs. Fine. What policies will do that?

Well he stopped Huawei, for the moment at least. I worked for T-Mobile and GCHQ were so worried about them that they installed monitoring kit to monitor for backdoors. T-Mobile wanted to build a Huawei core network to replace Cisco, but we're stopped by the government. I might add that Huawei routers used an almost identical CLI to Cisco, pretty obvious that there was some serious reverse engineering going on. Google has also said they will prevent Android K updates to their phones although Huawei are busily working on a new in-house operating system called Harmony is designed to handle the IoT.

FFS do some research and quit embarassing yourself

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckde.../#1a3061fe2677
in the last 30 months of President Obama’s term, manufacturing employment grew by 185,000 or 1.5%.
In President Trump’s first 30 months, manufacturers added 499,000 jobs, expanding by 4.0%.
In the same 30-month time span during the mature, post-recovery phase of the business cycle, some 314,000 more manufacturing jobs were added under Trump than under Obama, a 170% advantage.

The Vietnamese gives the US 7th Fleet berthing facilities in Da Nang, not that I'd expect you know that.

Rune ought to be reminded, if indeed he knew in the first place, of the great quote by Eleanor Roosevelt.

‘Great Minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.’
