What an insightful interview with someone who has known and worked with Trump long ago:

"Echos of the gambling in the way he is kind of improvising these trade wars...

There really is no strategy. One of the cons are: When we elected a businessman as the president, that he would bring some discipline and perhaps some real strategy to the government and obviously how we operate internationally.

Trump really has never had that capability.

He wasn't strategic in his business. People are calling it transactional. It was really just the thought of the day.

He did things on the spur of the moment; he bought the [already failing and overbudget] Taj Mahal because it was the biggest. He bought an airline because he always wanted to own an airline.

He didn't bring any economic discipline to how he operated the business and he had no real strategy to grow the business.

He tended in his business to always overpay, and he was willing to back down almost immediately. [such as suspending things he threatened to do like the next level of tariffs which would impact XMas shopping]

He is operating the government in the exact same manner.

He just has an idea and he implements it. ...

    He had no strategy.

It's just things that Donald Trump wants to do.

The bigotry was always visible. It's something he's always gonna go back to. When the economy became the story he will immediately went back to race."

Trump had the money and lawyers to mitigate his crimes and misdemeanors. He sent his lawyers to court over and over to rip off contractors and competitors. His business ethics were laid bare with Trump University. Fleece the people and lie, lie lie.

It's really sad, because Trump has a talent for working the media.

If he were to apply his talents in a positive way to try to bring about a predetermined goal through incremental steps and immediate goals, he could have been very successful in positive way.

He could have brought great things to this world. His father Fred, despite his own bigotry and racism (which was far more common in those days,) DID provide needed housing for many many middle class Americans after WWII.

Donald Trump despised working with the middle class. He wanted luxury. He wanted to move operations from Queens to Manhattan. Donald wanted to be part of 'the big time.'

If he had not even tried to do that. If he had only taken the massive fortune he inherited and simply invested it wisely in a conservative manner, he would have ended up far richer than he did with all his uninformed hunches, lack of strategic planning or vetting, all his gambling and bankruptcies.

Trump really is a stark example of a failed billionaire.

And these things were common knowledge prior to the election, which is why is was astounding that he had any support from the average American.

The media knows what he is, His talent is being a conman. His followers cannot understand. The conned are always the last to know and after it is over, they still think the conman was their friend. Trump laughed when he said "I could shoot someone on 5th ave and not lose any voters. This board shows how right he was.

Yeah, that, as with so much about Trump, is very troubling.
