Default Did you buy/instruct your KID how to use a BULLETPROOF backpack for return to school?

I'm aware of this latest 'product line' for BACK to SCHOOLS SUPPLIES, including bulletproof backpacks. So yes, I know about them. What I didn't think of was little backpacks for little kids. I just didn't! These little kids I assume must be INSTRUCTED on how to hold their backpacks so they can't get shot or don't DIE if they do? Makes me wonder if that is before or after they learn to ride their bikes without training wheels.

We are sooo through the fucking looking glass people.

Shopping for back-to-school items usually consists of calculators, pens, notebooks, and if your family is in the upper echelon of society — perhaps an Ipad. But with a nation in chaos and desperate to avoid another school shooting, it has become increasingly common for teachers and students, and even some parents to now demand bulletproof backpacks. A local TV station in MS tested this one last year. WDAM, Channel 7- August 16, 2018

[Upon advertising that certain bookpacks met with claims of certified standards]

The Justice Department spokesman Devin O'Malley released this statement in regards to the testing:

"The National Institute of Justice—the research, development, and evaluation agency of the Department of Justice—has never tested nor certified ballistic items, such as backpacks, blankets, or briefcases, other than body armor for law enforcement.

To test the backpack, we placed a book inside and put it on boxes filled with about 40 gallons of water, what Major Jamie Tedford could be compared to the size a kindergartner.

Then, deputies fired twelve rounds of six different caliber bullets, two a piece. The armored panel in the front of the backpack stopped bullets from a .22-caliber long rifle, 9-millimeter pistol, .40-caliber pistol, .45-caliber pistol and a .357-caliber revolver.

"It's not penetrating through the fabric, but it is at that force of the bullet that is causing the damage to the school book," Tedford said.

In the final two rounds, we used a .223-caliber rifle, similar to what was used to kill seventeen people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. We also added two more school books to the backpack, to measure impact.

The bullet pierced through the panel and first school book, but was stopped by the second book, lodged in the hard cover.

this is the idiocy of the left on display. we protect valuable assets with guns. we protect our financial industry assets with guns. we protect our politicians and their kids with guns. we protect the elite celebrities at special events with guns. but we can't bring ourselves to protect our own kids with guns, instead trying to provide them with a little protection so they can continue to be easy targets.

    stupid
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

You seem to be quite triggered by this FALSE narrative. Do you know what the odds are of a school kid getting shot versus getting killed by an automobile walking or riding to school?

your odds of dying in a vehicle crash would somewhere in between 1 and 4,000 and 1 and 8,000

the likelihood a student will be killed at school at less than one in a million

Good points. Yes, the left are lunatics and want us to place ALL our faith in BIG Government. They didn't learn much of anything in school.

Nearly 200,000 kids were in a school where there was a shooting. They will remember. If guns made us safer, we would be the safest country in the world.

A POSITIVE note of buying the backpack or teaching their KID how to use it if a gunman shows up at their school?

Excuse me, but where's the positive?

    Seems someone is buying them!!

Sales Soar For Company Selling Kids Bulletproof Backpacks For School

Signs of the Last Days® MinistryFebruary 23, 2018News

The company Bullet Blocker has been inundated with orders for its bulletproof backpacks since the Florida school shooting that left 17 students and teachers dead triggered a rise in the sales of their bulletproof backpacks.
The concept for the company first originated when a self-described “helicopter dad” and former U.S. Army Ranger became concerned about school security after the 1999 Columbine High School massacre during which teens killed 13 students and injured 20 others.

Then after the Virginia Tech school shooting killing 32 people , he said that was the final straw and started working on promoting the idea of kids protecting themselves.

It looks like a standard school bag but it’s lined with knife-and-bulletproof material called Kevlar that’s approved by the National Institute of Justice, an organization that sets body armor standards for law enforcement. Specifically, the fabric “traps and slows down” bullets shot from high-caliber weapons.

One woman bought one for every child she knows, and the wife of a New England Patriots player ordered three for each of her children. The idea is that kids can hold it up as a shield.
With the continuing violence of mass shootings killing kids in American schools, there are several companies that have come up who specialize in bulletproof kids wear.
