Home to a private college. Tons of 'monied' ORLANDO commuters. (Too close for comfort for my own FLA town). Certainly gives a whole new meaning to the phrase below, huh!

PS At least he'll lose his AR15 AGAIN FOR 'AWHILE'. Maybe he has one of those rich daddies who can make it all 'go away', afterall it was ONLY a FB posting.

Authorities in Florida have arrested a 26-year-old white man for a threatening Facebook post warning of a mass shooting with his AR-15 rifle.
“Florida authorities are charging a 26-year-old Winter Park man they say posted a threat on Facebook that he was about to have his semi-automatic rifle returned and people should stay away from Walmart,” The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested Richard D. Clayton on Friday north of Orlando.”

“Richard D. Clayton, 26, of Winter Park was arrested Friday after he posted threats to kill or do bodily harm on Facebook,” Click Orlando reported Saturday. “The arrest came after a joint investigation by FDLE, FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and Winter Park Police Department.”

Clayton allegedly posted, “3 more days of probation left then I get my AR-15 back. Don’t go to Walmart next week.”...

And just how would Red Flag laws effect you if you show no signs of being a danger to yourself or others? Also the removal is only temporary. I believe in the 2nd amendment but at the same time I can see a need to protect society from demonstrably insane individuals. When people make threats like that on social media they should be taken seriously.

My, this is bizarre. This is a 26 year old white man who is still living at home. His parents have money. The home is large, well manicured, and sits on a completely gated property, can only be seen from a distance. But he was represented at his bond hearing by a public defender. He previously got a DUI, which he pleaded no contest to, and that's why he was on probation and not allowed to have his AR-15.

He also was arrested in another case where he went to a boat race, got naked and swam into the middle of the race course. The race had to be stopped so he could be removed. That charge was somehow dropped. (parents with money?)

His bond was set at $15K, which was met, and he was released. When ordered not to go within 1000 feet of a Warlmart, he rolled his eyes. (If I had been the judge that would have gotten him a contempt charge as well.)

He told the officer he hoped the officer would be blown away and die on his very next call. He took his genitals out in the car, said he was going to urinate, and asked the officer if he was Hispanic, explaining that they are coming in and that's what's wrong with the country. When the officer said no, he said ok he would not urinate in the car.

This guy has enough bells ringing that he should never be allowed to own guns.

We need some kind of law that lets us take away the guns from nutcases like this.

And it would be highly to society's favor to see that this guy gets into some kind of mental health counseling whether or not his tightwad parents, who have plenty of money but use the public defender, pay for it or not.

Regarding the use of the public defender, what is your understanding as to when they are appointed to defend someone??

Sounds like the asshole has an alcohol problem. When you buy a gun, you have to basically swear that you don't have an alcohol or drug problem. If you develop one later on and it's documented, say bye-bye to your guns at least until the problem is adjudicated in your favor. There are probably exceptions(a 1st DUI, just slightly over the limit, with no accident or injury comes to mind). In this case, did he get his gun back yet? I think not. System worked. Quit bitching
