Default Trump takes hit from conservative commentators on border wall

Where the hell is our border wall dammit?!! Trump promise he would build a huge border wall and Mexico would pay for it?!! WTF man?!!

A pair of prominent conservative personalities knocked President Trump on Monday over a report that asserted his administration has not constructed a single mile of new wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Drudge Report, an influential site run by conservative Matt Drudge, featured The Washington Examiner's report as its main story on Monday afternoon with the banner headline: "NO NEW WALL AT ALL!"

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter took note of the headline and added her own barb at Trump.

I actually believe rightwing posters do not genuinely give a rat's ass about the wall.

It is just a wedge issue they use to drive their buck-toothed hillbilly base to the polls. Prior to 2016, I believe you will find a vanishingly small and negligible amount of posts from wingnuts on thie forum demanding a "big, beautiful wall" across the southern border. It was not even close to being a top tier issue on their radar, and there shouldn't be a large body of threads and posts dedicated to it in pre-Trumpian times.

Unlike liberals, who have long-standing and genuine core principle on universal health care, social welfare, economic justice irrespective of who the Democratic Party leader is, conservatives just bounce around from wedge issue to wedge issue - any issue that seems handy at the time to reap electoral advantage. The big, beautiful wall just being the latest in temporary and ephemeral wedge issues they cling to.

At one time, the Iraq War as the defining issue of our generation to conservatives, and anyone opposing the Iraq War was being treasonous and deserved a one-way ticket to Gitmo.

For a few years, conservatives were unified in mounting national opposition to gay marriage, and they worked feverishly to put anti-marriage equality ballots on state propositions. The moral character of the nation was at stake!

Repealing Obamacare use to be a life-or-death issue for conservatives - who once called Obamacare "worse than slavery".

The bottom line is they actually do not have any principled beliefs and are willing to bounce around from wedge issue to wedge issue, each time claiming it to be the existential issue to the fate of the republic.

It was a campaign issue. I don't think many believed Mexico would pay for it. Just like most Democrats don't really believe we are going to have free college, absolve student debts, or have Medicare for all. It gives candidates something to say at rallies and gives the crowd something to cheer about.

No politician does that. They promise "change," that they are "outsiders," and all the other same stuff election after election. And people actually buy it again and again.

Those issues will be coming up in the debates. The Democratic party has not made a platform including any of those items.
Trump said clearly that he was building a wall and Mexico would pay for it. His followers actually thought he was going to do it. He ran on it.

They yelled and cheered at campaign rallies (or it would have been awkward if they did not react). I have some very conservative friends who love Trump, but even they did not really believe Mexico would pay. They didn't care and have not problem with the U. S. paying.

A few actually believe Mexico is paying (tariffs). I have a friend who believes Mexico would be paying if we taxed the money Mexicans send back to their country because that it is being "taken away" from Mexico. But, none of that money goes toward a wall because revenue to Mexico declines.

They won't be making any platform until next summer. They almost have to put in some planks favored by the eventual nominee and some of the other candidates to get their support.

So you're against all those ideas?

I see you failed to find anything to back your claims, stoner. Another fucking failure. You should be used to that by now.

    Fucking loser.
