Thought it was the Chinese and then the corsairs in Africa.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

UK says no to tanker swap with Tehran, insists Iranian vessel was seized legally

The British government has dismissed the possibility of exchanging an Iranian tanker it detained near Gibraltar for a British-flagged tanker later seized by Iran in the Persian Gulf.
“We are not going to barter: if people or nations have detained UK-flagged [ships] illegally then the rule of law and rule of international law must be upheld,” Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said on Thursday.

He insisted that in contrast to Tehran’s maritime actions, the UK had been on firm legal ground when it seized the Iranian tanker.

British Marines seized the Iranian oil tanker Grace 1 near Gibraltar on July 4, claiming it was transporting oil to Syria, in violation of EU sanctions. Tehran responded to the move in tit-for-tat fashion, detaining a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz two weeks later. Iran claimed that the vessel, the Stena Impero, had been “violating international maritime rules.”

On occasions the stupidity of the UK's Tories is breathtaking.

Iranian tanker leaves Gibraltar despite US demands to seize it

The Iranian oil tanker 'Grace 1,' newly released by Gibraltar and renamed 'Adrian Darya 1,' has reportedly set sail, maritime tracking data shows. It comes after a last-minute US request demanding its seizure was rejected.
The tanker left the Gibraltar port at around midnight local time, shipping data showed.

Iran warns US against seizing oil tanker
Iranian tanker sought by US heads towards Greece as Tehran says any seizure attempt will have 'grave consequences'.

The Adrian Darya 1 was allowed to set sail from Gibraltar despite a request by the US to hold the ship

Iran has warned the United States against attempting to seize an Iranian oil tanker that set sail from Gibraltar after being impounded for six weeks.

The Adrian Darya 1, previously named Grace 1, headed east into the Mediterranean Sea on Monday hours after authorities in Gibraltar rejected a request from Washington to hold the ship.

Its destination was the Greek port of Kalamata, according to shipping data.

Abbas Mousavi, spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry, told a news conference that any attempt at seizing the vessel, which has a cargo of 2.1 million barrels of crude oil, would have "grave consequences".

"If such an action is taken or even if it is stated verbally and not done, it is considered a threat against the maritime security in international waters," said Mousavi.

In major Defeat for Trump Warhawks, Gibraltar Releases Iran Tanker, citing European Law

Aljazeera reports that its correspondent in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, Andrew Simmons, confirms that a tanker carrying $140 million worth of Iranian petroleum has now left the island at the mouth of the Mediterranean. The tanker was seized by Gibraltar authorities on July 4 on the grounds that it was bearing petroleum to Syria in violation of European Union sanctions on that country.

Some have argued that the seizure of the vessel was illegal inasmuch as the European Union rule only applies to countries of the union and is about importing oil from Syria to Europe. Only individuals in Syria are under an EU resource sanction, not the whole country. Moreover, the ship’s captain denies that it was heading for Syria in any case. The seizure was encouraged by Warhawks in the Trump administration seeking to drum up a conflict with Iran such as national security advisor John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

There is nothing in international or EU law that prevents Iran from freely selling its petroleum. The British move was ill-advised, and led to Iran seizing British-flagged vessels in the Gulf. Britain, in the midst of major political turmoil as a result of the Brexit issue, was wholly unprepared for military conflict with Iran and so in the end was forced to back down.

This retreat is a major defeat for the American war hawks who attempted to impose on Europe Washington DC’s campaign of maximum pressure against Iran. Europe remains committed to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and does not agree that new aggressive sanctions should be placed on Tehran. Europe has rejected maximum pressure, and the Bolton/Pompeo attempt to draw Britain into hostilities with Iran has failed.

Incredibly, the European press is speculating whether the US Navy will intervene, without any warrant of international law.

Trump and his warmongers have not only failed to increase US prestige among key allies in Europe, but have actually so diminished the US superpower that now small European courts are defying it.

Frankly- the European nations that have maintained their agreements with Iran, along with Russia and China- should form a coalition to protect international shipping from American threats of piracy.

Greatest country on earth ? Horseshit. That was pre- Izrael.

Iran’s envoy says tanker oil sold at sea to private company, owner ‘sets destination’

Iran’s envoy to London said on Wednesday the oil cargo of tanker ‘Adrian Darya 1’ was sold at sea to a private company, denying Tehran had broken assurances it had given over the vessel.

At the meeting with the British Foreign Secretary, “it was emphasized that British authorities’ action against the tanker carrying Iranian oil was in violation of international law,” Ambassador Hamid Baeidinejad tweeted after being summoned in London.

“EU sanctions cannot be extended to third countries. Despite numerous threats by America, the tanker sold its oil at sea to a private company and has not violated any obligation,” the envoy added. The private company, which is “the owner of the oil sets the sale destination of the oil,” Baeidinejad told IRNA.

Britain said on Tuesday Iran had sold the oil cargo of tanker ‘Adrian Darya 1’ to Syria, breaking assurances it had given over the vessel which had been detained in Gibraltar for a suspected breach of EU sanctions.
