it is tough to accept that a long term family business and locality has lost its main industry and the people will not have those jobs anymore. Their way of life will change and they cannot control it. Being a coal miner is not very useful on a job application. Miners and their families were desperate to belive their lives were not being uprooted, but they knew it anyway. Trump lied and told them all would be well. Sure, they wanted to believe it. “A layoff is always expected with miners. It’s always in the back of your mind and it’s no surprise when it happens in the coal industry. But, this is much more than a layoff,” Cole told the Guardian.
