Climate change: Current warming 'unparalleled' in 2,000 years



The speed and extent of current global warming exceeds any similar event in the past 2,000 years, researchers say.

They show that famous historic events like the "Little Ice Age" don't compare with the scale of warming seen over the last century.

Satellites are incapable of measuring the temperature of the Earth or of making any absolute measurement of temperature. The emissivity of Earth is unknown.

Science isn't data. Data is the result of an observation. All observations are subject to the problems of phenomenology. Basically, we each interpret what we observe, giving meaning to that observation in our own unique way.

Science is a set of falsifiable theories. No theory contains data as part of that theory.

If anyone in science needs to make a measurement to test a theory, that measurement must be a direct measurement. Proxy data does not test any theory. It is not science or testing a theory of science.

It is just not as precise as modern instrument data.

There is no satellite data. Satellites are incapable of measuring an absolute temperature. Such a measurement attempt would depend on the Stefan-Boltzmann law. The emissivity of Earth is unknown.

There is insufficient thermometer data. It is not uncommon for temperature to vary by as much as 20 deg F per mile. There simply aren't enough thermometers to reduce the margin of error down to an acceptable value and the thermometers that are there are not uniformly space nor being read at the same time or by the same authority.
