I believe that by "we," she is referring to minority ppl. The comments are not racist because she is also calling out "queers," and Muslims, who obviously could be any race. What she is saying is that we don't need ppl to remain silent and not use their voices, to not stand up and speak out. We need them to vote, to be active citizens. It's a call to arms, not a slur.

If she was saying that "we don't need female faces who don't want to be female voices," would you think anything of it?

It would depend, of course, on what you are wanting the "white voices" to do. Do you want them to speak out against injustice? Do you want them to speak up in favor of liberty and freedom for all? Are you calling on only "white voices," or would you also include "Muslim voices" and "queer voices" in your call to arms, as Ms. Pressley did?

Racism, by definition, means one thinks other "races" are inferior to one's own.

No where does she imply that whites are inferior to blacks or Muslims. And I seriously doubt you will be able to find in her whole public record any statements saying or suggesting the inferiority of the white race.

When teabaggers holler "blacks only vote Democratic to get FREE STUFF" that is racist, because you are saying that an entire class of people are too stupid, selfish, and lazy to vote for the nation's or the community's best interest.

I think she is wrong to imply that there needs to be monolithic uniformity of political views within the Muslim or Black communities.
