The reason why lefties are so bent out of shape over this, is because Trump was referring to people who hate America, and he was not singling out any race. Lefties hate America, and the four people Trump commented on hate America. Lefties see this attack on those four America haters as an attack on ALL America haters. They all know that Trump never singled out any race, and they all know that this had nothing to do with race.

Lefties are hurting actual victims of real racism when they hijack the only word that these victims have to describe what is happening to them. The word racism was once politically charged, which is why lefties wanted to use it as a political weapon. As you correctly stated though, it is watered down because of overuse.
