I get the impression that you presume what liberal believe based on what Fox News tells you to think.

In principle, I do not believe the United States has to accept all refugees who would like to come here, and I do not think it is a bad idea to expect them to apply for asylum in other countries and not just rely on the goodwill of the United States. And these people most certainly need to be screened to keep drug dealers and criminals out of our nation.

I believe I speak for most liberals when I say that we expect refugees and people seeking asylum to be treated humanely, to be given due process, and for our nation to attempt uphold its values as being generally open and empathetic to the oppressed, the poor, and the downtrodden. Just like the Statue of Liberty says.

What I do not appreciate seeing is conservatives dehumanizing these people, painting them in the worst possible light at every opportunity, and using xenophobic Nazi codes words like "illegal aliens" and "invasions of brown people from the south!"
