Hello Jack,
Absurd analogy.
You get an A for creativity, but you flunked relativity to the point.
'Nice' is a subjective term. The people in the lifeboat, if they are selfish, would not think it very nice to add additional people to the lifeboat even if the lifeboat was not at rated capacity already. The people in the water would consider the act more than nice. They would see it as a matter of life and death, and be very grateful.
The right thing to do is to try to save as many people as possible, but not if it presents certain death to those whom have already been saved. It becomes a judgement call.
What if some of the persons in the lifeboat are children or under the average weight estimation used in the '10 persons' rating? IF that is the case, then the lifeboat can accommodate additional persons.
Also keep in mind: The rating of the vessel is going to allow some overloading, which can often be done safely depending on how rough the conditions are. If it is very rough, it is not wise. In any other condition, it is entirely possible to overload the vessel. And it would be the right thing to do to try to save lives, whether or not it is nice to the those already in the boat.
Also: The capacity of the lifeboat could be increased by lashing life jackets underneath it, thus providing additional bouyancy. And any extra nonessential weight should be jettisoned. Shoes, for example. Throwing all the shoes, belts, wallets, purses and jewelry overboard would increase the capacity of the vessel to take additional lives.
Personal Ignore Policy PIP: I like civil discourse. I will give you all the respect in the world if you respect me. Mouth off to me, or express overt racism, you will be PERMANENTLY Ignore Listed. Zero tolerance. No exceptions. I'll never read a word you write, even if quoted by another, nor respond to you, nor participate in your threads. ... Ignore the shallow. Cherish the thoughtful. Long Live Civil Discourse, Mutual Respect, and Good Debate! ps: Feel free to adopt my PIP. It works well.
Factory jobs are still mostly automated, as predicted. Instead, human employment has shifted to service and white collar industries. A young person with mechanical aptitude and ability might want to consider robotics for a career. They might be doing most of the assembly work, but they still need programming, servicing, and maintenance.

These employment doomsdays have been predicted for a century. Automation killed millions of mass production jobs. Computers took away millions of jobs and created more. Aren't you glad computers created the paperless society? Did not come out that way, did it? Sure, this time it will be different, just like all the other times were.

This kind of response is scary, especially for someone who claims to be on the right. The President doesn't have all encompassing control over the economy and the future. We're not some communist nation.
There are definitely people who believe this fear of A.I. and job loss is over stated. Our economy has continually been transforming since the founding of the country and it's not going to stop now.

Cawack: "Our economy has continually been transforming since the founding of the country and it's not going to stop now."
Jack: Did they have: Unemployment, Welfare, Disability, Social Security Pensions, etc. to soak up the 'excess people' at the 'founding of the Country'?
If there is going to be "Jobs for Everyone". Why would anyone be talking about a 'Universal Basic Income'?
Your response is typical of someone on the left. You lefties give Obama credit long after he's out of office and refuse to give any to the President currently in the position.
If you fear AI is going to replace you, it tells me you've realized your skills are very low level.
Trump has only his racist attacks under control and the racists who follow him.
Russian trolls and their supporters go on Ignore, automatically: no second chance.

Non-sequitur fallacy. Unemployment and poverty do not make someone a criminal. Volunteer organizations still exist to help these people. The government isn't needed in this area, implements massive unconstitutional programs that are socialistic in nature, and is a big reason the federal government is heading for fiscal failure.
