A society needs police to enforce the law, not take it into their own hands.
So a society also needs accountability.

Personal Ignore Policy PIP: I like civil discourse. I will give you all the respect in the world if you respect me. Mouth off to me, or express overt racism, you will be PERMANENTLY Ignore Listed. Zero tolerance. No exceptions. I'll never read a word you write, even if quoted by another, nor respond to you, nor participate in your threads. ... Ignore the shallow. Cherish the thoughtful. No one wants to see Billy. It’s altogether easier to wrap cops in flags and patriotism then to view them for what they are. The enforcers of local political policy.
I’ve worked with a lot of police over the years and I don’t envy them their jobs. Many do view the public as stupid sheep and young cops with military backgrounds are colossal pain in the ass to train. They perform very well in many areas but getting the notion across that their job is to protect and serve and not to kill the enemy can be a challenge.
Ironically some of the most fearless, courageous and to be counted on in a crises are also sociopaths who can be real fuck ups on patrol but are awesome to have around when lead starts flying.
Another point in their favor is compared to most of the world our cops aren’t even remotely as corrupt.
So many cops are professionals and of high value.
What gets my goat about the police is that they have an egocentric attitude about their job being dangerous and when a cop fucks up instead of admitting a mistake and learning from it they hide behind politics. I consider that unprofessional.
There are a lot of jobs more dangerous than police work. Soldiers, farmers, fishermen, construction workers, steel and primary metal workers, truck drivers, heavy equipment operators, firemen, hazmat responders, etc., all have more dangerous jobs but they don’t or can’t hide behind politics when they fuck up. So when cops do that I don’t respect it.

Cops!
Are you a druggie millennial? That would explain a lot. lmao
The difference is the cops have power and authority over the citizens. They can do bad crap to you and get away with it. Cops should be held to a higher standard. They should face a citizens review board. Cops cover up for bad cops. Most are ex-military and some are walking around with PTSD. I am sure most of us have encountered "overzealous" cops wondering what their problem was.
