HANOVER, Va.
About a dozen people wearing white Klan robes and waving Confederate flags held a recruitment rally Saturday outside a Virginia courthouse.
The Hanover County Sheriff's Office tells newsoutlets that they received multiple calls about the Ku Klux Klan rally Saturday outside the county courthouse. But they said no laws were broken and no violence occurred.
The rally north of Richmond lasted about an hour.
The Klan unit waived signs and held banners urging prospective new members to contact them.
Hanover County Board of Supervisors Chairman W. Canova Peterson said he disagrees with the Klan but was pleased that things remained peaceful

A Virginia mother recorded herself confronting a group of white-robed KKK members who were reportedly demonstrating outside the Hanover County courthouse.
The mother of three, identified by local news outlet NBC 12 WWBT as Shannon Spiggle, can be seen in the video yelling at the group as they demonstrated on Saturday.
“You’re a disgrace to this country! Go home! Get out of my county!” Spiggle yells. No one can be heard responding.
The video, which was streamed by Spiggle on Facebook Live and uploaded to YouTube, shows about a dozen members of a KKK group standing near the courthouse holding posters with at least one person waving a Confederate flag.
“Where it is their right to demonstrate, they have to deal with the consequences that they’re not welcome, not in my county, not where my children are growing up,” Spiggle, who identifies as Jewish, told NBC News.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office told the news outlet that deputies were aware of the demonstration and that it took place without incident.
Spiggle said it was important that the group, reportedly hailing from North Carolina, knew it was not welcome in her town.
“I wanted them to know my presence. I wanted everyone to see that they were here ... that you cant ignore it. You can’t look away,” she said.

Once upon a time, years ago (I'm thinking 2008? 2009?) there was some kind of KKK thing happening right across the street from us. The iffy neighbor on the corner, who wasn't allowed unsupervised visitation with his 4-yo daughter, had a bunch of "friends" over one weekend summer day. I was out in the yard working in the gardens when several burly motorcycle guys rolled into his driveway and tromped into his house. I thought they looked kind of cool (the late Mr. Owl had a motorcycle too and was a burly man), until one of them came back outside and hung a huge Confederate flag on the porch overhang. I yelled over: "Hey, is it time for the KKK rally?! You gonna invite everyone?" The guy stared over at me, went back inside. Then they all came out, rolled up the flag, got on their cycles, and left. Rural Missouri. Bet it was some KKK thing.
