I could vote for her.
But I am not happy about the idea of reparations. I think it would backfire.
Think about it.
So we actually decide to do it. We come up with some kind of figure to pay to descendants of slaves, and we figure out how to fund the program and the money is paid out.
Then you are going to get a bunch of people who never had much money and suddenly they have all this cash.
What are they going to do with it?
Be responsible? Invest? Clean up their credit? Pay off bills, get their personal budget in order? Pay for better education to learn how to be successful?
Or will a lot of it just be blown on superficial stuff.
I could see a lot of that money getting spend on the trappings of wealth and then it's gone.
And the disadvantaged are STILL disadvantaged.
And THEN that hands Republicans a huge talking point.
"I TOLD YOU SO."
It could totally end up working in the Republicans favor.
(as if they never made PR hay out of anything they could exploit. Oh nooooo. Not THEM. Noooooo. Never!)
