Default The least educated and unhealthiest states vote for the Republican

There is a clear correlation between a person’s level of education and his or her likelihood to vote for a right wing party. The lower the level of education, the more likely it is that that person votes Republican (or UKIP in Britain or for Le Pen in France or Wilders in the Netherlands etc). Put bluntly, people who aren’t very well-educated are more likely to believe in simplistic solutions, above all solutions that blame “the other” (eg immigrants or ethnic minorities).

This is being proven out everyday with the trumpanzees

Is it any wonder that Republicans are fighting efforts to improve education?

This board shows the difference between rightys and leftys. You get real discussion and debate from most Dems. The rightys post one-liner drive-by insults and declare themselves winners. The Republican party is the home of bigots and haters. They have a religious attachment to Trump no matter what stupid shit he does.

Not entirely true, there are intelligent conservatives, George Wills and David Brooks come to mind, both interesting columnists, and "the Hill" plus "WSJ" will often offer sharp conservative analysis.

But you are correct, on this Forum you aren't going to see many of those type conservatives, "cawacko" is about as close as you will get, this vehicle is full of Trumpkins regurgitating talking points they heard, saw, or read from the demogogues

Wills abandoned the party when Trump won. He is intelligent and informed. That is why he fled when daffy came in.

Census Bureau Data on Educational Attainment

    High school graduate
    White (non-Hispanic) 93%
    Asian 89%
    Black 87%
    Hispanic 67%

    Bachelor’s Degree
    Asian 54%
    White (non-Hispanic) 36%
    Black 23%
    Hispanic 16%

This chart shows educational attainment by group. Clearly, the two groups with the lowest educational level have the highest percentage of votes for Democrats.

So, I question your facts for which you give no evidence. However, I do not believe blacks and Hispanics are ignorant or are simplistic because of their voting patterns. I do not look down on people based on their political preferences--that is bigoted and a great example of those simplistic notions you refer to.

What is the correlation coefficient you refer to?

Just maybe they had their eyes open and saw that liberal socialists promise much and deliver little. And what they did deliver is being dialed back.

Which correlates highly with percentage of white population. If you control by race/ethnic group you find that the white, black, and Hispanic population performs about equally in those states; but, the states with higher percentage of minorities have a lower average.

Republicans notoriously fight the effort to properly fund public schools.

Ok except for where I live in the Bay Area, as just one example, people always complain we don't properly fund our schools and Republicans have no control locally or at the state level. So "properly funding our schools" is just an arbitrary statement because no matter how much funding schools get one can always say we need more. It makes no allowance for what we use the allocated money for or the results.

As compared with most Americans, Trump’s voters are better off. The median household income of a Trump voter so far in the primaries is about $72,000.
That figure wasn’t merely above the national median household income, it was higher than the median income for Hillary Clinton’s supporters. Silver went on to point out that the general portrayal of Trump’s voters as uneducated also failed to conform to the facts: “About 44 percent of Trump supporters have college degrees… higher than the 33 percent of non-Hispanic white adults, or the 29 percent of American adults overall, who have at least a bachelor’s degree.”
    https://spectator.org/why-the-dems-w...mp-voters/bout $72,000.
