Well that is what I guessed you meant, & thus why I provided evidence of why I think, thus far anyway, it isn't working..
We all agree something needs to be done.

Getting them to stop the stealing would be a big win, but not enough.....
You don't think china can reform?? If they can't then why all this?? Why the farmers taking one for the team, Americans paying more taxes on imports etc etc etc??

Trump has done nothing with China. China is American businesses as well as Chinese. Daffy and Ivanka made their overpriced crap there. He still does. Trump does not give a shit about American workers. He never has. He is just playing his con and rightys are being sucked in as usual.
Warren, Biden and others are not setting economic policy. That is the job of Daffy Donald, our damn president.

China is not going to reform it's State Owned Enterprise system. IP theft can get improved.
But China has to be seen as a malign power on all strategic levels/ affairs.
We'll get something. China was literally eating our jobs and stealing us blind. But China has it's own problems too.
Still anyone that tries to tell you how this plays out is simply guessing; my guess is we'll get balance of payments
and not much else in terms of trade. The industrial and military espionage has to stop.
as to market access? it depends on Huawei and Xi's power to guide a deal thru

The Huawei Scandal And America's Uneasy Relationship With China

we should take stock of our own complicity in the rise of Chinese tech giants and our mercenary willingness to do business with them while turning a blind eye to their unsavory practices. As Isaac Stone Fish writes:
Chinese tech giant Hikvision, which supplies surveillance cameras to China’s concentration camps, gets a lot of help from its American friends. The PR giant Burson-Marsteller earns $25,000 a month by helping Hikvision’s U.S. subsidiary with tasks such as 'strategic planning and guidance.' The lobbying firm Sidley Austin appointed former 14-term congressman Rick Boucher (D-Va.) to help Hikvision fight back against a U.S. ban on their cameras. Intel partners with Hikvision to boost automation at factories. And Amazon sells hundreds of Hikvision products."
The U.S. government has been putting pressure on U.S. and foreign telecom and internet providers to stop using Huawei's telecom equipment, since Beijing can at any time ask the company to hand over data, effectively making its products default spyware.
But Huawei continues to thrive, and has continued to sell equipment to smaller U.S. telecom companies.
This year it passed Apple to become the world's second-largest maker of smartphones after Samsung.
And what about other companies? Many U.S. firms are all too willing to play by China's rules, because they stand to profit mightily, whether in China or here at home.

http://www.jiesworld.com/internation...s_in_china.htm I wish people would quit saying that. China gladly took our corporations that moved there for cheap unprotected labor and no environmental regulations. We moved there giving them our production systems we spent a century perfecting. We took our technology there for short term profits.
