I prefer the celebrity analysis of Howard Stern who actually knows Trump and interviewed him a few times. He knows Trump is a liar and a low life.

I'm glad the decision to go to war was not mine. The enforcement of removing slavery, and penalties for not complying with the new law, could have and should have been a matter in the Federal Court, and should have been enforced by the Justice Department.
But, after the Southern States received Lincoln's Proclamation letter that included terms like using 75,000 Federal troops would be used to enforce the new Proclamation, the Southern State's bound together, seceded from the Union, denounced the authority of the Federal Government, and threatened to attack Washington DC- instead of filing suit and handling the matter in Federal Court.
That left Lincoln with not much choice but to declare war on the Southern states. But, you can tell that Lincoln struggled with that decision, and had many regrets long after he made it. Most certainly after Lincoln went to the lines of war and witnessed the hills of fallen soldiers as far one could see and the blood on the ground.

poor Johnny lol, still riding that bus with Ratso!
Trump is the modern day Lincoln.
And like Lincoln, Trump is not afraid to act on his instincts, parlay his expertise into different areas of concern.
Lincoln was well read for his time, and a good God fearing man, and he applied those virtues into his decision making, slavery was wrong, the vital importance of maintaining a strong union was worth going to war over, a bold bold move, one that any president today would certainly shy away from. But at the time, and as history has shown , it was the right decision. Short term pain of war for the long term gain of the Union.
Tell me any man today that would put this country at war within our borders, at a loss of half a million Americans to preserve our nation. unheard of.
Trump is taking on some very important issues, applying his strong suit, his business savvy to tackle things, Fixing bad trade deals, trying to fix a broken immigration system,
trying to reign in rogue nuclear states, all of these things were propped up by the inaction of past Presidents.
All big items with short term pain involved, for the long term gain of the Union, for civilization in some cases. And he marches on in the face of ugly personal attacks on him and his family, unreasonable obstruction from his opponents in politics, and their propped up media.
