Default Welp, there goes another 40K jobs -- Beer industry crippled by Trump tarriffs

U.S. Beer Industry Blames Trump Tariffs for 40,000 Job Losses
    Source: Bloomberg

The U.S. beer industry is blaming a jobs hangover on the Trump administration’s tariffs.

A report by two trade groups showed U.S. beer-industry jobs dropped 40,000 since 2016 as metal tariffs boosted aluminum-can costs, leading to a drop in investment. The biennial study by the Beer Institute and National Beer Wholesalers Association said direct, indirect and induced jobs fell to 2.19 million in 2018 from 2.23 million in 2016.

“Aluminum tariffs are increasing brewers’ costs and are an anchor on a vibrant industry,” Jim McGreevy, the chief executive officer of the Beer Institute in Washington, said in an emailed statement. “Each brewer is deciding for themselves how to absorb that expense, whether it’s raising prices, laying off workers or delaying innovation and expansion.”
Aluminum traders expect higher costs to ship metal into U.S. Midwest

The shipping and logistics charge for delivering aluminum to the U.S. Midwest, known as the “premium,” more than doubled as Trump slapped a 10% tariff on imports of the metal. Molson Coors Brewing Co. estimated last year that the levies would create a $40 million hit to its bottom line.

Just think of all the JOBS they are costing the BULE COLLAR WORKERS of the United States....as if the US does not have the manpower or technology to make its own products? Good thing we're ADDING MILLIONS of JOBS ANNUALLY , HUH, WITH WAGE INCREASES HIGHER THAN ANY TIME IN THE PAST DECADE....

    And as far as aluminum:

US lifts steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada and Mexico

Apparently the "Beer Industry" was indulging heavily in its OWN PRODUCTS when they came up with this MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE "conclusion": (from the Bloomberg article YOU CITED in the OP )

A 10% increase in costs, made costs rise MORE THAN 200% . YEAH...that's a credible claim. Leftgoofymath.

As you obviously don’t know, economics is more complicated then your brain can handle. If you think there is one factor for the decline in sales in the beer industry your more stupider than I thought.
Your only goal is to find something against Trump.

Yes, tariffs are a factor, but you failed to mention a few other things.
You failed to mention that US beer volume has declined for the last five years.
The biggest brand names had a 17% sales drop from 2012 to 2017 (must be Obama’s fault)
People are healthier and are staying away from the carbs and calories and are finding other alternatives to beer such as wine.
Also drought and heat has resulted in decreased barley yields by 17% increasing the price of beer.
I’m sure there are other factors but I don’t have the time to research and I think it would be a waste of time since you met your goal to get Trump.
Suck it up and start to buy American made products.

That’s part of it. I would also say the increase of micro brews is contributing as well

U.S. Beer Industry Blames Trump Tariffs for 40,000 Job Losses
    Source: Bloomberg
Unfortunately, I might be responsible for putting a dent in the domestic beer industry profitability.

Compared to my prodigious beer consumption prior to 2016, I am practically a teetotaler now, and likely depriving American brewers of vast profits.

Another slap in the fact to domestic beer, is when I do drink it is almost always beer from Quebec, Mexico, or Russia.

Wrapping up: I will plead guilty to helping Trumpf bleed the American beer industry dry.
