    Default Avenatti in the news

    REMEMBER WHEN LIBERALS LIONIZED HIM?

Federal prosecutors filed additional charges against high-profile attorney Michael Avenatti on Wednesday, claiming the frequent White House critic pocketed almost $300,000 from former client Stormy Daniels.

Daniels was owed money from a book deal and Avenatti allegedly used a "fraudulent document purporting to bear his client’s name and signature to convince his client’s literary agent to divert money owed to Avenatti's client to an account controlled by Avenatti," according to a statement by federal prosecutors.

A senior federal law enforcement official told NBC News that "Victim-1" who was allegedly bilked by Avenatti is Stephanie Clifford, otherwise known by her stage name, Stormy Daniels.

The publisher gave money to Daniels' agent and the former adult film star was supposed to receive two payments of $148,750, according to the indictment. But Avenatti had the money sent to funds he controlled, rather than to his client, according to court papers.

Prosecutors accused Avenatti of spending the money lavishly, including monthly payments on a Ferrari.

“Michael Avenatti abused and violated the core duty of an attorney — the duty to his client," according to a statement by U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Geoffrey Berman.

"As alleged, he used his position of trust to steal an advance on the client’s book deal. As alleged, he blatantly lied to and stole from his client to maintain his extravagant lifestyle, including to pay for, among other things, a monthly car payment on a Ferrari," Berman said. "Far from zealously representing his client, Avenatti, as alleged, instead engaged in outright deception and theft, victimizing rather than advocating for his client.”

Michael Avenatti, the attorney who rocketed to fame through his representation of porn star Stormy Daniels in her battles with President Trump, was charged Wednesday with ripping her off.

Federal prosecutors in New York City said Avenatti used a doctored document to divert about $300,000 that Daniels was supposed to get from a book deal, then used the money for personal and business expenses.

Prosecutors said only half of the money was paid back.

Daniels isn't named in the court filing, but the details of the case, including the date her book was released, make it clear that she is the client involved.

Federal prosecutors in New York charged Michael Avenatti with additional financial crimes Wednesday, including allegedly forging the signature of his former client Stormy Daniels and diverting nearly $300,000 owed to her for a book advance into his own account, according to court records filed on Wednesday.

"Avenatti used misrepresentations and a fraudulent document purporting to bear his client's name and signature to convince his client's literary agent to divert money owed to Avenatti's client to an account controlled by Avenatti," Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said in a statement. "Avenatti then spent the money principally for his own personal and business purposes."

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan -- who have already accused Avenatti of extortion in a case involving Nike -- also indicted him separately on extortion charges in the Nike case on Wednesday.

Playing Cupid: Barron Trump Tricked Donald Trump And Stormy Daniels Into Showing Up To The Same Romantic Dinner In Hopes They Get Back Together

Sometimes kids get sentimental ideas in their heads that can seem a bit idealistic to more practically minded adults, but you have to admit that this one is pretty cute: Barron Trump has tricked Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels into showing up to the same romantic dinner in hopes they get back together.

Aw. Looks like Barron is determined to play Cupid and rekindle the romance between his father and Stormy Daniels! And it looks like his clever plan might just work.

Barron’s plan to reunite his father with the glamorous woman he fell in love with over a decade ago began when the mischievous 11-year-old told the president to put on his best button-down shirt and come with him to a made-up Trump rally at an Italian restaurant on the banks of the Potomac River called Ristorante D’Amore. While President Trump was getting ready, Barron sent a falsified email to Daniels’ assistant saying that Daniels’ lawyer had scheduled an urgent meeting with her about her lawsuit against Trump at the same location.

Wow. Looks like Barron Trump’s willing to do just about anything in the name of true love.

When Stormy Daniels first walked through the door of the restaurant and saw President Trump sitting alone at one of the tables, she thought there had been some mistake. Daniels and President Trump exchanged curt, tense greetings and prepared to leave the restaurant separately, but at that moment, Barron switched on “More Than A Feeling,” the song that was playing when the president and Daniels shared their first dance together all those years ago on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Once Donald and Stormy heard their song playing, they shared a meaningful glance, and Stormy shrugged and took a seat beside Donald.

Crouching just out of sight, Barron watched in delight as a waiter he hired came by to pour glasses of wine for his father and his long-lost love—and the little scamp smiled as the couple toasted to “a chance encounter” and laughed together.

You can’t deny a true romantic connection—and it seems like Barron already knows that better than some adults do.

As the dinner continued, Trump and Daniels reminisced fondly about the golf tournament where they first met, their faces getting closer and voices growing lower as they gazed into each other’s eyes. Watching from his hiding place behind the fern, Barron closed his eyes and crossed his fingers, hoping that Stormy Daniels and Donald Trump would soon realize how they truly felt about each other and begin their love anew.

Whether Trump and Daniels will get back together remains to be seen, but it seems that the pair has enjoyed themselves based on the two empty bottles of wine on the table and the easy way they were giggling and smiling at each other as they chatted long into the night. It will be exciting to see how this ruse pans out in the end, and hopefully all will turn out well for young Barron. Leave it to a kid to know what the grown-ups in his life truly want deep down in their hearts!

Michael Avenatti’s legal troubles escalated on Wednesday as federal prosecutors announced new criminal charges accusing the lawyer and prominent critic of U.S. President Donald Trump of stealing from porn star Stormy Daniels and extorting Nike.

Prosecutors accused Avenatti, 48, of stealing about $300,000 from Daniels, about half of which has not been repaid, after helping his former client secure a book contract.

They also said he has been indicted on previously announced charges that he tried to blackmail Nike out of more than $20 million by threatening to expose what he called the athletic wear company’s improper payments to recruits for college basketball teams it sponsored.

The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman in Manhattan.

Avenatti also faces dozens of charges in California, where prosecutors on April 11 accused him of stealing millions of dollars from clients to pay for personal and business expenses, and lying to the Internal Revenue Service and a Mississippi bank about his finances.

If convicted on all charges, Avenatti could face several hundred years in prison.

Michael Avenatti was indicted Wednesday in separate cases charging him with stealing about $300,000 from his former porn star client Stormy Daniels, and with trying to extort athletic shoe giant Nike out of tens of millions of dollars by threatening to go public with claims the company was facilitating payments to the families of high school basketball stars.

While the Nike-related indictment was expected because it mirrors allegations in a criminal complaint executed against Avenatti in March, the claims related to Daniels were brand new.

Avenatti, who last year was mulling a run for the White House, is now charged in three separate federal indictments, including one pending in California related to alleged theft of client funds and other crimes, and faces the possibility of many years in prison if convicted.

According to one of the new indictments in New York, Avenatti allegedly forged Daniels’ signature on a document that gave wire fund transfer information to her literary agent, which helped direct the money paid out for the book sales to a bank account controlled by Avenatti.

Default New Report Finds Adult Stormy May Have Paid Over $130K To Cover Up Sex With Trump

NEW YORK—Alleging she was deeply concerned about the destructive effect the revelation could have on her reputation, a new report released Tuesday suggests that adult film star Stormy Daniels may have paid over $130,000 to cover up a sexual encounter with Donald Trump. “Newly uncovered legal documents seem to indicate that Ms. Daniels paid out six figures to keep Trump quiet about a sexual encounter that undoubtedly would have proved embarrassing and perhaps career-threatening,” said report coauthor Wendy Thorpe, adding that the star of films such as Tit Happens and Love Potion 69 was so desperate to keep the liaison under wraps that she insisted on using pseudonyms in the settlement to protect her identity if it was ever discovered. “In addition to Ms. Daniels, we have identified at least four other women who each paid out more than $100,000 in order to bury humiliating stories about their potentially ruinous trysts with Trump. Understandably, each of the women was deeply concerned that he would go public and completely destroy their careers.” At press time, Daniel’s lawyers had issued a statement condemning the report and claiming that any insinuation of a sexual relationship between Donald Trump and their client was nothing more than a “shameful and outrageous” attempt to defame her.

Default CNN caught lying about Avenatti

Last year a Media Research Center study revealed that disgraced DEMOCRAT darling Michael Avenatti appeared on CNN a whopping 74 times over a 10-week period. At the height of Avenatti’s fame, he spent his rare time away from CNN’s greenroom partying with the network’s anchors while regularly appearing on late-night shows, MSNBC and “The View.”

CNN once helped make a star out of embattled attorney Michael Avenatti, but now the network’s in-house media guru Brian Stelter has been caught misinforming his followers on Thursday about his coverage of the in-the-news former porn lawyer, even deleting a tweet in the process.

Vanity Fair published a lengthy feature story on Tuesday about the “epic fall” of Avenatti. It’s the type of story that would typically find itself with prime real estate in CNN’s “Reliable Sources” media newsletter. But Stelter omitted the negative story about Avenatti altogether -- and media watchdogs took notice.

Stelter responded with a snarky claim he covered the Vanity Fair story in his “Reliable Sources” newsletter on Tuesday. However, this was not true and Avenatti was not mentioned in the newsletter on either night.

Once Stelter was confronted about the erroneous claim, CNN's senior media correspondent deleted the inaccurate tweet and chalked it up to getting “mixed up.”

“You're right, I'm wrong, I got mixed up. Now the trolls have a legit reason to dunk on me… Will include it tonight,” Stelter wrote.

CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
