Default Zombie Brits lurch towards a second Brexit referendum.

May faces crunch meeting as support for Brexit deal slips away

Scottish secretary said to be concerned by PM’s promise of a vote on second referendum

The Scottish secretary, David Mundell, has demanded a meeting with Theresa May on Wednesday afternoon, amid concerns that cabinet support for her “new Brexit deal” is falling away.

Mundell, who does not have a reputation as a cabinet rebel, was said by allies to have been irked by the prime minister’s promise of a vote on a second referendum.

A second referendum is their only hope- but the xenophobic saboteurs will threaten violence at the ballot boxes.

Brexit: Calls grow for Theresa May to resign in bill backlash

The prime minister is facing calls to resign amid a backlash against her Brexit plan from Conservative MPs.

Several cabinet ministers have told the BBC that she cannot stay, with one saying it is "the end of the line".

Most of the Brexit damage has already been done. Companies that wanted to stay with the EU have already moved.

I've been following very carefully the information that certain posters here get from Remainers. It appears that the 'British Establishment' tricked the common people into voting Leave in the 2016 referendum, because they have billions stashed abroad and expect to make a killing if Brexit ever happens.

Now they've changed their minds? They want a second referendum to cancel Brexit? Did they move their billions back, or is it a double bluff? Where should I put my billions? What's going on?

Why are hardline Remainers so virtuously angry?

I have often wondered about this, and concluded sadly that it's above my head. Here are some thoughts from Cambridge historian Robert Tombs ...

It is possible to think that the economic benefits of EU membership outweigh those of leaving, but the arguments are balanced and depend ultimately on what post-Brexit governments do. Reasoned analysis like this cannot explain the verbal violence and political recklessness of those determined to thwart Brexit.

Dislike of Leavers is too obvious to need much illustration. Think of David Lammy[MP] calling Brexiteer MPs Nazis; Emily Thornberry [Labour MP] expressing disdain for working-class patriots; or Matthew Parris [intellectual journalist] cheerfully boasting of his contempt for democracy. Remainers insist on their patriotism; but it is a strange kind of patriotism that loathes so many of its fellow citizens and regards its country with distaste. George Orwell brilliantly mocked this attitude in the Forties, but it has now burst open to an extent that I doubt exists in any other democratic country.

Pessimism about Britain and illusion about Europe are why we originally joined the Common Market. Whitehall mandarins feared and still fear that we might lose “influence” otherwise. Commentators with little understanding of economic history propagated and still propagate the notion, dating back to 1880, that Britain is failing economically.

Finally comes geopolitical determinism: Joseph Chamberlain’s idea in 1904 that “The day of small nations has passed. The day of Empires has come.” The EU is said to “keep the peace”, as if Germany would invade Poland again unless restrained by Jean-Claude Juncker. Worse still, Remainers think the US and Russia would kick Europeans around unless they form a federal state, however ineffectual and unpopular.

Given Remainer negativity about Britain, it is amusing that a recent UN study of national well-being, the World Happiness Report, places Britain so high. Most happy countries are small and homogenous. Among large countries (say over 50 million), Britain is the happiest of all, and by far the happiest in Europe.

It seems strange that the only country to vote to leave the EU is its happiest large state. If we look closely, we find that Leave voters were not generally pessimistic, nor were they even old. This has not been reversed by the negative propaganda that has been hosed over the electorate for three years.

The average American doesn't have a clue about Brexit and the reasons behind it.

No - a few right-wing crooks have gradually captured the tory party. The original 'referendum' was just a way of people's thumbing their noses at Cameron, and now all the really stupid ones find it a chance to shout anybody educated down. It is a typical 'populist' nonsense - unexamined shit that will cover everyone and stink for years.

Without Europe the UK will be swallowed whole by US capitalists.

Trump is due to pay a visit with instructions very soon- IN THE FACE OF NATION-WIDE UK PROTEST.
