Default Brexit kills off British Steel

British Steel on verge of administration

The UK's second-biggest steel maker had been trying to secure £75m in financial support to help it to address "Brexit-related issues".

If the firm does not get the cash it would put 4,500 jobs at risk and endanger 20,000 in the supply chain.

Company sources said that the direction of talks with the government would become clearer in the coming hours.

British Steel's main plant is at Scunthorpe, but it also has a site in Teesside.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48347371

That's another 25,000 jobs headed down the Swanee and Brexit hasn't even happened yet.

Their only hope is to dump Brexit, say sorry for causing all the fuss, compensate all those who've had their assets stripped and accept that England is just a small, insignificant country that has been living in the past for way too long.

    Nope. Still alive and well.

I guess rampant nationalism is *not* good for the economy. Who knew?

I simply report on the truth from sources you like to avoid, maggot. You simply report on horseshit- most of the time- from sources that my sources find laughable.

British Steel is finished- as reported. The reasons given are ' Brexit related ' , as reported. You can waffle your ' good old Nige ' rhetoric , as is your want- but it's horseshit from here.

No, not really. A clean "saw-tooth waveform" coupled with a good turntable sporting a moving coil cartridge who's signal is sent through a quality preamp to a high current amplifier driving a set of high end speakers will most often exceed anything blunted over at last the 4 decades . I wouldn't expect you to know that, though.

' Blunted ' in terms of its impact, paleface. No doubt your vinyl gives you the fidelity that you want- for a couple of dozens plays anyway. Then it's back in to the sleeve as a keep-sake and fire up the lossless audio, eh Hans ?

Yep. I admit I mostly use the convenience of the "lossless audio," but playing it through a high end system has it's advantages. Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon half speed mastered vinyl does sound noticeably better than the CD, but as my hearing is worsening, it's becoming harder to notice it.

You should experiment with different headphones. Some might provide enhancements in the frequencies that you're missing.

    Yeah-- classic album.

I have a very good pair of headphones. I also did a lot of research before I bought my home speakers. Frequency response as well as sensitivity were important factors in my decision.

Even back in 2015, before Brexit was even a reality, the Guardian was reporting that cheap Chinese steel was destroying British Steel's markets.

Cheap Chinese steels have hurt other country's markets too. And their steel is just that...cheap low grade crap that lessens the quality of manufactured products.
