I never cease to be surprised at how often seeding the border with landmines, torturing detainees at Abu Ghraib, and waterboarding seems to cross the mind of conservatives!

Neither of us are experts on border control, but I think the ideas I articulated make a lot more sense than the 12th Ming Dynasty technology of a 3,000 mile, 30 foot tall, big beautiful concrete walls.

Let's be honest, what Trump is selling is a metaphor, a motif, a visceral symbolic image of "Fortress America".

The options I articulated are much more reasonable, much more fiscally sound, and undoubtedly more effective and environmentally viable than a massive, continental-scale concrete Berlin Wall.

I am not kidding about land mines. You can deploy them quickly, they really are environmentally friendly and cost efficient. The fields can be laid to ensure anyone coming over the border funnels them through a port of entry.
