    Default DEMOCRATS in the news

HE WANTS TO DO FOR AMERICA WHAT HE'S DONE FOR HIMSELF

In the six years since Rep. Eric Swalwell (D., Calif.) began earning the big salary that comes with being a member of Congress he has failed to pay down his student loans, cashed out his pension, and accumulated credit card debt.

Swalwell graduated from law school in 2006 and was first elected to Congress in 2012.

He spent the years in between as an Alameda County prosecutor and town council member in Dublin, Calif.—which earned him $118,548 in his last full year of work.

The 38-year-old congressman began earning even more, $174,000-a-year, when he entered Congress in 2013, but his annual disclosure forms show his financial situation has worsened.

Swalwell has failed to significantly pay down his biggest debt—the $50,001 to $100,000 worth of student loan debt he owed when he first ran for Congress in 2011 still remains at the same level.

He has also lost his largest asset—the $15,001 to $50,000 he had invested an Alameda County pension fund when he first ran was cashed out in 2013.

Swalwell in 2016 reported an investment of between $15,001 and $50,000 in a Vanguard retirement account, but he at the same time began to report significant credit card debt.

Appearing for the first time on his 2016 disclosure is between $10,001 and $15,000 in credit card debt with American Express, and between $10,001 and $15,000 in credit card debt with Chase Bank.

His debt to American Express remains between $10,001 and $15,000 on his most recent disclosure, covering 2017, but his debt to Chase Bank increased to between $15,001 and $50,000.

Swalwell owns no property, according to the disclosures. Public records indicate he is currently renting a recently renovated four-bedroom townhome in northeast Washington, D.C.

Oddly missing from all of Swalwell's disclosures is a single checking or savings bank account.

House of Representatives rules mandate members to disclose all bank accounts held by members and their spouses, as long as the cumulative amount held in those interest-bearing accounts exceeds $5,000.

He has also been prone to making errors on his disclosures. He failed to report his student loan debt on his original disclosures and falsely stated on his 2013 disclosure that he still owned the Alameda County pension he'd already cashed out.

Experts across the board would recommend paying off student loan debt as quickly as possible, if you can afford to do so—the longer you owe, the more you end up paying. Experts would also try and dissuade anyone from cashing out a pension fund early because the move often comes with a financial penalty, as it does for the Alameda County pension Swalwell held. Getting buried in credit card debt is also something to avoid.

Swalwell said in 2015 he pays $600 each month paying down his student loan debt, which would come out to $7,200 a year, or just over 4 percent of his annual salary.

Swalwell's office directed questions on the congressman to his campaign. His campaign did not respond to detailed questions on his financial disclosures.

Swalwell did say, however, that he plans to release his tax returns in the coming weeks.

"Americans should have no doubt about where their leaders' loyalties lie," Swalwell said. "All candidates running for president should release their tax returns. I will release mine soon, as well."

His office did not give any additional details on when exactly the taxes would be released. His next financial disclosure to the House will likely come in the next few weeks.

Swalwell has said he will not run for another term in Congress, instead focusing on his presidential campaign.

    DEMOCRAT

A charity run by the wife of Rep. Elijah Cummings received millions from special interest groups and corporations that had business before her husband’s committee and could have been used illegally, according to an IRS complaint filed by an ethics watchdog group.

Cummings, 68, a Maryland DEMOCRAT, is chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

His wife, Maya Rockeymoore, 48, is the chairman of the Maryland DEMOCRAT Party and briefly ran in the state's gubernatorial race last year.

The couple married in 2008. Cummings was once heavily in debt — in part due to hefty child support payments to his first wife and two other women he had children with — but his financial situation has improved considerably over the past decade.

Rockeymoore runs two entities, a nonprofit group called the Center for Global Policy Solutions and a for-profit consulting firm called Global Policy Solutions, LLC, whose operations appear to have overlapped, according to the IRS complaint filed on Monday. The complaint states that the arrangement was used to derive "illegal private benefit."

Global Policy Solutions received more than $6.2 million in grants between 2013 and 2016, according to tax records. Several of the nonprofit group’s financial backers — which included Google, J.P Morgan and Prudential — have business interests before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Cummings has served as DEMOCRAT chairman of the committee since January and previously served as ranking member.

The largest contributor to the nonprofit was the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which is the charitable arm of pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson, a company that is regulated by Cummings’s committee. The foundation, which gave a total of $5.5 million to Rockeymoore’s consulting firm and $5.2 million to her nonprofit.

According to its website, the Center for Global Policy Solutions is a nonprofit group that seeks to “create healthier communities, strengthen Social Security, and close racial wealth disparities." The for-profit consulting firm, Global Policy Solutions LLC, describes itself as “a social change strategy firm dedicated to making policy work for people and their environments.” The complaint states that they “appear to operate almost as a single entity, allowing for an illegal private benefit for Maya Rockeymoore Cummings and her husband."

Rockeymoore’s consulting firm was selected for a $1 million federal contract with the General Services Administration in 2017 for work on the “Leadership for Healthy Communities” project to combat childhood obesity, according to federal records. At the same time, Rockeymoore’s nonprofit group “served as the national program office for Leadership for Healthy Communities,” according to its website.

If both groups were involved in managing the project, “the arrangement is ‘self-dealing’ and cannot be ‘arms length’” as required by IRS law and “prompt the question of whether its organizers are getting fat off the grants.”

Creepy Sleepy Joe Biden vowed to ban sanctuary cities across the United States that shield illegal aliens from deportation the last time he failed to gain the presidency.

During a September 2007 DEMOCRAT presidential primary debate in New Hampshire at Dartmouth College, Biden said he would not support allowing local jurisdictions and states to ignore federal immigration law to help protect illegal aliens from deportation through sanctuary city policies.

The serial groper even criticized President George W. Bush’s administration for allowing sanctuary cities to operate in the U.S.

Biden’s exchange with New England Cable News’s Alison King went as follows:

KING: I’d like to hear from Senator Biden, would you allow these cities to ignore the federal law?

BIDEN: The reason that cities ignore the federal law is the fact that there is no funding at the federal level to provide for the kind of enforcement at the federal level you need. Part of the problem is you have to have a federal government that can enforce laws. This administration’s been fundamentally derelict in not funding any of the requirements that are needed even to enforce the existing law.

KING: So Senator Biden, yes or no, would you allow those cities to ignore the federal law?

    BIDEN: No.

    Default Another anti-Semite Muslim DEMOCRAT

AND COONFACE IS STILL HIS GOVERNOR

A member of the Virginia legislature and former volunteer for Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) is connected to multiple anti-Semitic organizations and is the son of a Hamas fundraiser.

Del. Ibraheem Samirah (D.)—who received sympathetic national coverage this week after alleging harassment for his Muslim faith at a town hall—has supported multiple virulently anti-Semitic and anti-Israel organizations, once speaking at a Hamas-affiliated conference.

Samirah is a vocal supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, which seeks to use economic and political pressure against Israel. In a 2014 Facebook post, Samirah urged friends to support the BDS movement while Israel was "most exposed."

As a student at American University and then Boston University, Samirah was an active member of Students for Justice in Palestine. He credits the organization with helping convince students that "Israel REALLY sucks."

SJP relies heavily on American Muslims for Palestine, of which Samirah is also a part, for funds and logistics. According to 2016 testimony from Jonathan Schanzer of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, "AMP is arguably the most important sponsor and organizer for Students for Justice in Palestine."

AMP's founder and president is Hatem Bazian. He also founded SJP. Bazian has a history of deeply anti-Semitic comments and conspiracies. In 2004, Bazian spoke at a fundraiser for an organization the U.S. Treasury determined was fundraising for Hamas.

In a 2017 post, Samirah pledged "sizeable" funds and linked to a page of AMP talking points. The page warns that "Zionist Jews" are trying to take over Jerusalem. In 2018, Samirah spoke at an AMP conference in Chicago alongside Bazian.

The Anti-Defamation League traces AMP's roots to a Hamas propaganda and fundraising group called the Islamic Association for Palestine. IAP's stated goal, according to internal documents, was to "increase the financial and the moral support for Hamas." One 1992 IAP document describes "publicizing and focusing on the savagery of the Jews" as a key fundraising tactic. According to Matthew Levitt, a terrorism scholar at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, IAP operated as Hamas's mouthpiece in the United States. Hamas is a terror organization responsible for the deaths of Americans. Its charter explicitly calls for the killing of Jews, not just Israelis.

According to a memo by the FBI released as part of a 2007 case against IAP, a former employee confirmed the organization funneled roughly $3 million per year to Hamas via the Holy Land Foundation. The court ruled in 2008 that IAP could be held responsible for knowingly supporting a murderous organization when it directed funds to Hamas.

A 2000 document from IAP's fourth annual convention lists Samirah's father, Dr. Sabri Ibrahim Samirah, as chairman of IAP's board of directors. He also appears on the board of trustees and executive committee of a separate organization that supports IAP.

Dr. Samirah resided in the United States illegally. According to court documents from 2010, he overstayed his student visa, unlawfully working and obtaining a new invalid visa. Dr. Samirah traveled to Jordan to visit a relative who fell ill in 2002, when authorities barred his return on national security grounds. According to court documents, the Department of Homeland Security deemed Dr. Samirah a "security risk."

While abroad, Dr. Samirah ran for Jordan's parliament in 2016. Al Jazeera describes him as a "leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan." He also served as spokesman for the Islamic Action Front, a Jordanian political party.

Dr. Samirah believes he has a mission "to support the struggle of our people back there in order to achieve a free land in the Muslim world." This "struggle," according to Dr. Samirah, includes the military invasion of Israel.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Dr. Samirah called for the Jordanian military to attack Israel. "I am so proud to be a Jordanian," he says. "And I ask my government and my army to help liberate Jerusalem and Hebron and all those cities that were occupied." (Jordan and Israel signed a formal peace treaty in 1994.)

A 2010 U.S. court decision allowed Dr. Samirah's return to the country on a technicality, finding that he had a right to remain stateside while the immigration system reviewed his unlawful alien status. Judge Richard Posner's opinion in the case describes a "possible (though only, as far as we know, a rumored) link to Hamas."

Had prosecutors provided available evidence of Dr. Samirah's terror ties, the judge said, it could have lawfully barred him from the country. "[I]f indeed he's a threat to the security of the United States," Posner wrote, "he can be subjected to removal or perhaps even to criminal proceedings upon his return to this country and can be detained until those proceedings are completed."

"No one has told us what kind of ‘security risk' the plaintiff is," the judge complained. "The government points to no facts or reasoning that might support the immigration service's refusal to allow him to return to the United States. No evidence is mentioned that might connect him to Hamas."

As recently as December 2018, Samirah described himself as "being inspired by my father." According to screenshots of Arabic Facebook posts, he also praised his father for teaching him to "dedicate my life to the liberation of Palestine."

Samirah hopes to win reelection later this year.

Default Men paid more than women in Kameltoe's Senate office and campaign

DO AS FEMOCRATS SAY, NOT AS THEY DO

A new plan from Sen. Kameltoe Hairless (D., Calif.) to eliminate the gender pay gap would fine companies if they are unable to prove they're paying men and women equally, something Hairless isn't currently achieving in either her own official office or on her campaign staff.

In her Senate office's most recent six-month disclosure, covering the period from April 1, 2018, through Sept. 31, 2018, the median male salary disbursement was $34,999 and the median female salary disbursement was $32,999, leaving women with just 94 cents of every dollar paid to men.

The gender pay gap for the previous six-month period, during which the median male salary was $27,167 and the median female salary was $25,749.97, was a nearly identical 6 percent.

The pay gap was even greater during the first full month of Harris's presidential campaign in February—the median female salary disbursement for the month, $5,763.97, was about 87 percent of the median male salary disbursement, $6,632.23, a further analysis of her campaign filing found.

The Harris campaign came closer to gender pay equality in March, when the median female disbursement was about 95 percent of the median male disbursement. Only staffers employed for the entirety of the pay periods were included in the calculations.
