I'm not going to defend Bolton other then the fact Trump wanted someone out of the stale CFR pool of advisors-
he went to Bolton after McMaster wanted to sharply escalate Afghanistan ( we are now in talks w/the Taliban).

Believe it or not Trump wants us out -he wanted us out of Syria as well until he got so much shit for it he capitulated a pro-form force

The Iran agreement was worthless and a sop to the regime -I fully support all sanctions on Iran
I'm wary of extending carriers to the Gulf, but it's probably most likely more "bluster" ( pressure)

Trump wants out of Syria because he sees no over-riding US interest in it, and is willing to let it be in Russia's sphere of influence.

Trump is a sociopath. Any arguments on behalf of humanitarian concerns concerning the Syrian intervention are going to fall on deaf ears with Trump. He does not give a rats ass about war crimes, humanitarian concerns, human rights, or war refugees.

That is why he is not particularly keen when it comes to Syria.

Iraq matters to him. That is why he supported the Iraq invasion. Remember, he is on record saying we should take their oil.

Iran matters to him. His out-sized ego thinks Iran is a threat to both his ego and to U.S. national security.

Being a NeoCon means using our war machine to advance our perceived economic and military interests in strategic areas of the world.

A NeoCon does not let Syrian war refugees effect what little human conscience they have in any way whatsoever.

Trump does not give a shit about war crimes in Syria, human suffering in Syria, or humanitarian concerns in Syria.

He does give a shit about the oil rich Persian Gulf, and American military and economic interests there.

I am not stupid, and I have an excellent track record for sniffing out NeoCons. The trinity of Trump, Bolton, and Pompeo is about as NeoCon as you could get in any administration.
