If you are a party that routinely cannot convince the majority/plurality of American voters that your ideas are superior, then there is no way you should nevertheless be rewarded with a stranglehold on the federal government.

Democrats went a span of 40 years and received a majority of Presidential votes one time. From 1968 until Obama in 2008 Jimmy Carter was the only Democrat to win with a majority of the popular vote, and that was 50.1%.
