Each state, with the exception of Maine and Nebraska (funny you were so ignorant that you chose NE as your example) are by popular vote.
You can cherry pick any of the close states and say they 'decided'. That is simply stupidity. What you should focus on is that your precious candidate didn't do shit to try to win those three states because she took them for granted. That is why the founders formed the system we have in place. So that politicians would be forced to campaign for the ENTIRE country.
Just because CA voted heavily for the moronic unethical piece of shit that was Clinton, doesn't mean the rest of the country should suffer from their ignorance. If CA voters want to vote against their best interest, that is up to them. The rest of us shouldn't suffer for it.
It already counts as much, we are a representative republic don't like it move commie! What you are saying is the people in big cities should decide what everyone does, up yours we do not want your big city lack of morals, and anything that resembles common sense everywhere.

Big whoop! The FOUR electoral votes that typically go to the Democratic Party of the Jackass will continue to go to the Democratic Party of the Jackass.
What idiots like you do not know is that this means their voting is apportioned to whoever gets those votes. The Party of the Jackass no longer gets ALL of them. Dumb fuck.

They did not "vote out" the electoral college (and they cannot do so). They voted to give their electoral votes to the national popular vote winner. But, that pact does not take effect unless states with 270 electoral votes join. So far, only 14 states have joined. They are still using electoral votes to determine the presidency.
The electoral college gives each state the power to determine how their electoral votes are distributed. The Constitution never mentions popular votes by the people--that was a development of the states that decided to give the electoral votes to the popular vote winner.
In 2016 Maine gave one electoral vote to Trump and three to Clinton.
Their votes are apportioned to whoever got them. In other words, Republicans now have a say in that State. What idiot Desh doesn't know is that this has been happening since 1972.
I do wish California would go this rout. It would guarantee Republicans at least 30 votes they currently get shut out with.
But there are two states that do it a bit differently so that a candidate can lose a state but still pick up some Electoral College points. One of those is Maine, which does not use the traditional “winner take all” system the rest of the nation has implemented. In 1972, the state introduced what’s known as the Congressional District method. Instead of the electors being distributed based on the popular vote of the entire state, they’re distributed based on the popular vote of the state’s individual districts. Nebraska also uses this system.
