Few here even understand trade, or the complexities involved, let alone what Trump is attempting.

And Trump is going to come up, it is his trade policy
It isn’t complex. Either you support free trade or you don’t. If you do you don’t need an agreement. You just allow goods to flow freely

Free trade agreements are nothing more than corporate welfare for rent seekers

"Detail," no, got tired of explaining it to you Trumpkins at the time, here, do it on your own (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Pacific_Partnership), but briefly, it would have established the US as a major player in the Far East, while encircling China's neighbors in a trade agreement that excluded China, meaning if China had any ambitions of joining it they would have to conform to the rules and regulations established in the treaty

Not that simple, it isn't a question of having a deal or not having a deal, free trade doesn't mean there aren't any restrictions between trading partners

Perhaps, but they can get those revenues elsewhere, haven't you been paying attention, since Trump has alienated even some of our traditional political and economic allies, China has gained inroads all over the world

Pretty funny, an opinion piece written in a foreign vehicle published before the details of the TPP were even released now proves that TPP was a "stupid idea," and "fogcatcher" really did post that

since?? WTF are you yammering about?? When did China start it's' "new Silk Road?"

    https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/chi...oad-initiative
n 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the launch of both the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, infrastructure development and investment initiatives that would stretch from East Asia to Europe. The project, eventually termed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) but sometimes known as the New Silk Road, is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects ever conceived. It harkens back to the original Silk Road, which connected Europe to Asia centuries ago, enriching traders from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

Ah, not what was said, pay attention, the comment was that TPP could have addressed the situation in a more productive manner than just attempting to bully another nations with trade wars. It is called diplomacy, economic diplomacy, something Trump has shown he is not all that good at

Chomsky, Reich, Krugman, Sanders and many other liberals you kotow to were dead set against it. Even they had to admit is was a bad deal.

Why think? Putting demands on the prize is very different than any tax policy Republicans have passed throughout history. So yes...being forced to heel in exchange for tax consideration influences behavior, but only if the alternative is higher taxes.
    It isn't.
