Default Appears Trump now has designs on pimping the Fourth of July, to make it all about him

"President Trump takes over Fourth of July celebration, changing its location and inserting himself into the program"

"President Donald Trump has effectively taken charge of the nation’s premier Fourth of July celebration in Washington, moving the gargantuan fireworks display from its usual spot on the Mall to be closer to the Potomac River and making tentative plans to address the nation from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, according to top administration officials."

"The president's starring role has the potential to turn what has long been a nonpartisan celebration of the nation's founding into another version of a Trump campaign rally. The revised Independence Day celebration is the culmination of two years of attempts by Trump to create a major patriotic event centered on him and his supporters"

"No president has participated in a Fourth of July celebration on the Mall in recent memory"

    https://www.adn.com/nation-world/201...o-the-program/

The Congresswomen in the article put it best, the Fourth of July is "not about any one president. It's not about any one person, it's about 'We, the people.' And if the president moves to make this about him, I think he will find the America public disappointed and angered by it."

Leave to Trump to f*ck up a National holiday in order to benefit himself

You kidding, if Trump sees a chance to turn the day into one of his gym rallies he'll jump all over it, in his view, everything has to be about him, regardless

What's the difference if it's at the Lincoln Memorial or other places that Presidents have spoken from?

    John F. Kennedy, 1962
“For 186 years this doctrine of national independence has shaken the globe—and it remains the most powerful force anywhere in the world today. There are those struggling to eke out a bare existence in a barren land who have never heard of free enterprise, but who cherish the idea of independence. There are those who are grappling with overpowering problems of illiteracy and ill-health and who are ill-equipped to hold free elections. But they are determined to hold fast to their national independence. Even those unwilling or unable to take part in any struggle between East and West are strongly on the side of their own national independence.”

    George Bush Sr., 1989
“After 213 years, Americans can say that the experiment is a resounding success. The Fourth of July is a time to rejoice in this success, which has inspired all who seek to break the shackles of totalitarian rule and breathe in the life-giving air of liberty.”

    Bill Clinton, 1993
“And together, we can make the years ahead the best years our Nation has ever had if we can rise above cynicism and doubt… Our people have always known that Government could not solve all the problems and that all citizens had to be responsible to build this Nation together.”

    George W. Bush, 2001
“Our Founders would also be pleased to walk these streets again and to find, amid the problems of modern life, a familiar American spirit of faith and good works. They would see the signs of poverty and want, but also acts of great kindness and charity. They would see addiction and the wreckage it brings, but they would also see in the works of the religious groups and charities throughout this city the power that can rescue abandoned hopes and repair a broken life. In a world very different from theirs, they would see different kinds of hardships, fears, and suffering; yet they would also recognize the brotherly love that gave this city its name.”

    Barack Obama, 2014
“Those early patriots may have come from different backgrounds and different walks of life, but they were united by a belief in a simple truth: that we are all created equal, that we are all endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. …
But our success is only possible because we have never treated those self-evident truths as self-executing. Generations of Americans have marched, organized, petitioned, fought, and even died to extend those rights to others, to widen the circle of opportunity for others, and to perfect this Union we love so much.”
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

Appears the content went right over your head.

Past Presidents haven't made themselves the center of the July 4th national celebration. They haven't scripted the Federal events to center upon them, they didn't address the nation as part of these festivities, they didn't make the day political nor orchestrate it to put the focus on them

Trump wants to turn it into another one of his gym rallies

He's the President of these United Independent States.
Personally, I'd rather he address the nation prior to evening's events from the White House
and have a big party out on the lawn because of the inevitable violence which will occur
there from the fringe TDS left who still don't know to relax and have a good time.
Even with Trump's absence, they'll manage to beat up some MAGA hat-wearing folks anyway, I'm sure.

I believe you are showing signs of paranoia

Trump can do whatever he wants, but it is best for the Nation that he keep to himself or at least not attempt to make it all about him on days as the Fourth of July

He is the President, and I do respect the office of the President, but not individuals who overtly pimp that office for their own benefit
