    Default DEMOCRATS in the news

The mayor of Edinburg, Texas, and his wife surrendered to law enforcement Thursday in connection with voter fraud charges.

On Thursday morning, Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina and his wife, Dalia, walked into a local Texas Department of Public Safety building to face charges for an “illegal voting scheme” occurring the 2017 mayoral election, according to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

A news release summarizes allegations that Molina and his wife “had numerous voters” change their residential addresses into the jurisdiction–including the apartment complex he owns–for the express purpose of voting for Molina in the November 7, 2017, election.

The “vote harvesting” scheme, as Paxton’s office describes it, involved the participation of paid campaign workers. Molina won the election by 1,240 votes, unseating long-time incumbent Richard Garcia.

There have been a total of 18 other arrests in connection with the 2017 Edinburg city election. These arrests were part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged coordinated effort by political workers to recruit people to fraudulently claim residential addresses in other jurisdictions.

One of the individuals accused of illegally voting in that election included a previously convicted human smuggler.

Edinburg is part of the Rio Grande Valley, a region with a long history of voter fraud allegations and convictions including the 2012 primary election in Donna, where various individuals were convicted of using cocaine and marijuana to buy votes.

The Rio Grande Valley area also made national news before the 2018 election when the Public Interest Legal Foundation released a complaint to county and state officers regarding “altered” voter registration forms circulated by the Texas DEMOCRAT Party that were directed to noncitizen residents. The applications featured pre-printed claims of U.S. citizenship.

The Texas Secretary of State referred the matter to the Texas Attorney General’s Election Fraud Unit.

The Texas fraud unit is expected to assist Hidalgo County prosecutors in the Molina case.

The “women of color” who hosted this week’s presidential forum expressed frustration that the leading DEMOCRAT candidates are old, white men. It is an example, they say, of “racist” and “sexist” polling.

In particular, a member of the organizing committee for the event insisted that polls showing Joe Biden in the lead were absurd, especially because he had not yet even officially joined the race as the polls were being conducted, according to Politico.

“With all due respect to the vice president, he hasn’t even announced yet, but he’s the frontrunner?” said Leah Daughtry, organizer of the “She the People” event. “Racism and sexism are part of the fabric and the fiber and the founding of our country,” she added, “and the way that the candidates are being treated, it just reminds you of that. We’re not past it.”

Another DEMOCRAT activist, LaTosha Brown, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, also slammed the media for pushing white men as the DEMOCRAT frontrunners.

“When you got a media that’s constantly saying Biden and Beto and Bernie and literally elevating the male candidates, I think that’s going to be reflected in the polls,” Brown said.

    Default Cheatin' Joe!

Joe Biden, fighting to salvage his Presidential campaign, today acknowledged ''a mistake'' in his youth, when he plagiarized a law review article for a paper he wrote in his first year at law school.

Biden insisted, however, that he had done nothing ''malevolent,'' that he had simply "misunderstood the need to cite sources carefully".

And he asserted that another controversy, concerning recent reports of his using material from others' speeches without attribution, was ''much ado about nothing.''

Biden addressed these issues in a news conference he had called expressly for that purpose. To buttress his assertions of "sincerity and openness", Biden released a 65-page file, obtained from the Syracuse University College of Law, that he said contained all the records of his years there.

It disclosed relatively poor grades in college and law school, mixed evaluations from teachers and details of the plagiarism.

    SOME PEOPLE DID SOMETHING

The FBI and criminal investigators from the Internal Revenue Service executed court-authorized search warrants at the home of Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh and Baltimore City Hall, FBI spokesman Dave Fitz said.
Investigators are also searching a second residence belonging to the DEMOCRAT mayor -- who has taken a leave of absence amid a scandal over the sale of a children's book she authored -- as well as the Maryland Center for Adult Training, a non-profit the mayor has worked with, Fitz said. The home of Gary Brown, a former Pugh aide, is also being searched.

The FBI said they have made no arrests at this time in connection with the raids. Pugh was home when authorities arrived at her house shortly before 7 a.m. ET, a law enforcement official said.

While Pugh was a board member of the University of Maryland Medical System, the medical system spent $500,000 to fund the purchase of some 100,000 books from Pugh's company Healthy Holly LLC, a spokesman for the medical system has confirmed.

Pugh apologized in March for having "done something to upset the people." Earlier this month, Baltimore's city council called for Pugh to resign over the scandal.

Two years after leaving office, Joe Biden couldn’t resist the temptation to brag to an audience of foreign policy specialists that he strong-armed Ukraine into firing its top prosecutor.

In his own words, with cameras rolling, Biden described how he threatened Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in March 2016 that the Obama administration would pull $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees, sending the former Soviet republic toward insolvency, if it didn’t immediately fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.

“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden recalled telling Poroshenko.

“Well, son of a bitch, he got fired,” Biden told the Council on Foreign Relations event, insisting that Obama was in on the threat.

Interviews with a half-dozen senior Ukrainian officials confirmed Biden’s account, though they claim the pressure was applied over several months in late 2015 and early 2016, not just six hours of one dramatic day. Whatever the case, Poroshenko and Ukraine’s parliament obliged by ending Shokin’s tenure as prosecutor.

Ukrainian officials say there was one crucial piece of information that Biden must have known but didn’t mention to his audience: The prosecutor he got fired was leading a wide-ranging corruption probe into the natural gas firm Burisma Holdings that employed Biden’s younger son, Hunter, as a board member.

U.S. banking records show Hunter Biden’s American-based firm, Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC, received regular transfers into one of its accounts — usually more than $166,000 a month — from Burisma from spring 2014 through fall 2015, during a period when Vice President Biden was the main U.S. official dealing with Ukraine.

The general prosecutor’s official file for the Burisma probe — shared by senior Ukrainian officials — shows prosecutors identified Hunter Biden, business partner Devon Archer and their firm, Rosemont Seneca, as recipients of the money.

Shokin said in written answers to questions that, before he was fired as general prosecutor, he had made “specific plans” for the investigation that “included interrogations and other crime-investigation procedures into all members of the executive board, including Hunter Biden.”

William Russo, a spokesman for Joe Biden, and Hunter Biden did not respond to email messages seeking comment. The phone number at Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC in Washington is no longer in service.

The timing of Hunter Biden’s and Archer’s appointment to Burisma’s board has been highlighted in the past, by The New York Times in December 2015 and in a 2016 book by Peter Schweizer.

Although Biden made no mention of his son in his 2018 speech, U.S. and Ukrainian authorities both stated that Biden and his office clearly had to know about the general prosecutor's probe of Burisma and his son's role.

Joe Biden has hired the national press secretary from Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign.

Symone Sanders, who became a CNN political analyst after she left the Vermont senator, met with Biden several weeks ago, according to the Associated Press.

She argued in November 2016 that the DEMOCRAT Party does not “need white people leading” it.

She will serve as a senior adviser to the Biden presidential campaign.

Politicians speak a lot, and they write a lot. But what happens when the words they speak and write aren’t their own?

During the 1988 Presidential election, Biden was accused of mimicking a speech that British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock had delivered just four months prior.

Kinnock’s speech included the following lines: "Why am I the first Kinnock in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Why is Glenys the first woman in her family in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Was it because all our predecessors were thick?"

Biden said: "I started thinking as I was coming over here, why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ever to go to a university? Why is it that my wife who is sitting out there in the audience is the first in her family to ever go to college? Is it because our fathers and mothers were not bright? Is it because I’m the first Biden in a thousand generations to get a college and a graduate degree that I was smarter than the rest?"

The vice president was forced to withdraw from the presidential race after Maureen Dowd of the New York Times exposed his plagiarized speech.

Allegations followed that Biden lifted parts of other speeches from Hubert Humphrey, Robert Kennedy, and JFK.

Default Apparently Bernie thinks all felons are people of color

Bernie Sanders denounced the passage of a bill in the Florida House that would require felons to pay court fees before becoming eligible to vote, calling it a “racist” effort "to deny people the right to vote."

The legislation, which passed Wednesday along party lines, would require felons to pay all court fees and costs in addition to any restitution owed before being granted the right to vote.

“Enough with the racist and unconstitutional efforts to deny people the right to vote. If you are an American citizen you must be able to vote. End of discussion,” tweeted Sanders, who is widely seen as a front-runner in the Democratic presidential primary race.
