Cohen apparently in a statement told investigators. Trump called him one day while out campaigning and was pushing him for information on how the Moscow Tower deal was progressing. Cohen soothed him, saying it was coming along and gave him an update. He said 3 hours later he was watching Trump on the stump telling his crowd, yet again, he had NO DEALS in Russia.
