Conflating dharma with rigidity of thought is stupid. Dharma is immutable as I have said over and over so there is no room for changes - unless some august body of that religion changes the dharma.

Religious dharma cannot be conflated with rigidity of thought however- rigidity of thought goes to being able to change perspective of incorporate new data.

So simply saying religious dharma is immutable does not impact on other worldly thinking.
One can incorporate new ideas into one's perspective on non-religious matters - but still remain faithful to dharma

You would have to show those who are religious , are also rigid thinker in secular, non-religious matters.

If religion is a crutch......why are you attempting to kick a crutch away from a cripple? Faith is a crutch? I'd wager that every day you go out to start your car/truck/bike...whatever, you don't go out wearing mechanics coverall's toting a toolbox. Why not? Because you started the car yesterday and it started just fine...as it has over the past weeks, months or years....thus, you go out to start your car dressed appropriate for what occasion that is required of you... in clean cloths EXPECTING the engine to turn over and transport you to where you wish to go. You have faith based upon the prima facie evidence or reason as determined by previous experiences of your car starting as expected.

Thus FAITH is not BLIND....faith must be based upon something that believable because there is evidence to support it.....either prima facie (beyond doubt) or objective (that which can be seen and demonstrated).

Strange....The Holy Scriptures do not agree with Franklin. The scriptures declare FAITH is constructed upon REASON. Evidence is required in order to find faith. To argue that faith comes void of reason is an absurd illogical assumption. To have faith you believe that something is true beyond the reason of doubt. Christian FAITH does not come BLINDLY, Christian faith is constructed upon the WORD OF GOD and TRUTH.

It is upon the written record found in the Holy Scriptures that faith is constructed. "And truly Jesus did many other signs (the miraculous) in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God...……." -- John 20:30-31.
