America used to have apprenticeships. If you seeking a job in a field that did not require a degree but still needed extensive training, you were taught by pros in a methodical and complete fashion. Even assembly lines and factory work required training. The big 3 actually helped finance training centers.

They advertise them on TV. Auto mechanic, welding, motorcycle mechanic, business, etc. There's even a specialty school for Top Fuel drag racing engines.
Some of the local ones here are pretty reputable.
